My friend doesn't eat anything green, meaning no vegetables. All he eats is meat, dairy, bread, etc.... he is really healthy... my question is: can you get all the essential nutrients without eating vegetables?

He might be healthy now, but he won't remain that way until he changes his eating habits. Our bodies need not only the nutrients from fruits and vegetables, they need the natural fiber they provide. A well-balanced diet is essential to long-term good health. To determine if it is well-balanced look at the textures and colors. If there is a variety in every meal, it will be more healthful.

No, he ISN'T really healthy.

Sounds like you all are fairly young, right? Oh, it will catch up with him. He probably doesn't go to the bathroom (you know what I mean) everyday. If you don't go everyday, you'll probably get colon cancer before you're 50. You'll probably have diverticulosis, maybe Crohn's disease....there are ALL kinds of terrible bowel diseases that not eating vegetables (then not having bowel movements) can contribute to (just look them up).

Ask him if he wants to spend the rest of his life having to wear a BAG to poop into.....? Just eating meat, dairy, bread, etc.......it will sit in his colon.........just sit there and become an obstruction.........have surgeries..........

Humans can survive without eating meat/fish/eggs. We just need the protein. There are many non-meat sources of protein. I don't know if there are really any benefits from not eating meat; anyone who does eat meat may have eaten too much of it in their life. And you don't need it EVERYday. If you only eat small amounts of meat four or less days out of the week, you will be in just as great of health as a vegetarian. Not eating meat is not bad for your health.

he is young which is why his health has not been effected "yet".

severe nutrient deficiencies can take years and decades before they cause the health to decline to a point where they are noticed. nutrient deficiencies do and will shorten the lifespan. no pill or medicine can reverse years and decades of insufficient levels of nutrients. a diet devoid of vegetable will lead to health problems so it's not a matter of if but of when.
