We read the scripture because we are told by God to stay in the Word. We learn something every time we do read. It's our way of learning more about God, that ,and going to church.A lot of what I write is from memory and a lot is from scripture. If I'm not sure of something ,I check it out before writting this. I don't want to mislead anyone on something so important and their souls.Seeing a soul saved for God's kingdom is so very thrilling to me. I sure don't want anyone to perish not even my enemy. I'm sure I've made some on here for my words. But if they will go to church and learn about God ,then you know what, I DON'T CARE IF THEY ARE MY ENEMY

Both

When I post a scripture as a scripture is always check the Bible to make sure I don't make a mistake. I am human.

Example:

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

As Christians what we believe is based on the Bible. My Dad(he's a preacher) always said be able to back up what you say with scripture. This is what I try to do 99% of the time.

No one has to read scriptures. But it is a fact that the Bible shapes the way many people believe.

I am not sure what you mean by the contrast between "from the Bible" or "by the Heart."

While on R&S, I use either http://www.crosswalk.com/ or http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/ depending on the type of search I need. I do this to get the quote accurate (via the King James Version usually).

Sometimes when the general thought does not require verbal specificity, I just paraphrase from memory.

If "by the Heart" you mean Am I a Christian believer? Then the answer is No.

almost all of the holy scriptures were written in a time when knowledge of the world was at a minimum, and knowledge of the right to equality that every human deserves. The bible contradicts itself in many places, the old testament is bitterly vicious and vengeful, the new testament is not much better.
Why anyone takes the time to learn it off by heart is beyond me. Why people base their morals on such writings is not only illogical but completely insane.
May science bless you. lol

I know the Scriptures that I want to use to answer a question because the Lord has gifted me to be a teacher in the body of Christ. But I don't have them all memorized to where I could just type them out without checking. So I use the e-Sword software to get the quotes that I use. You can get if for Free from a link on the Free Stuff page @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/ along with a lot of other Free items if you are interested.

We quote the scriptures because often, the questions posed quote the scriptures and the Bible interprets itself.

Knowing the scriptures is beneficial, but only when one allows the teaching to transform consciousness as yeast, transforms bread.

I will answer for myself and for no one else

I quote from the scriptures just as Jesus quoted from the scriptures.
I believe the Bible to be the word of God and therefore the information found within the bible is far more advance and superior than anything my imperfect mind can think up.
Also it is better that i have something to back my beliefs.

I don't know who said it, but someone once said: Frequent reoccurence of fundamentals, ensures perpetuity. Meaning if we go back to the basics on a regular basis, we will make sure our lives are moving in the right direction.

We continue to read scriptures to keep our focus on the goal. The more we read and understand them, the more they become ingrained to our memory, and we will know them by heart.

I personally still have to look most of them up, I don't know them by heart yet.
