Hypothyroid you can join the army. I have hypothyroid, and have been told numerous times by different army recruiters that I can join. If you talk to an army recruiter they can varify that information.

Usually if you have hyperthyroidism it will turn into hypothyroidism after a while because of how the hormones are. They fluctuate, not right away but over time. The reason you doctor wants you to take the meds is because there are major moods associated with such fluctuations its not all about weight. The thyroid regulated many many things. The scan will better be able to help with where you are at. Did they use the thyroid probe on you yet? Take pictures? I am a student in nuclear medicine and these are the tests we do. Giving the radioactive pill and so forth. I can add more if you add more to your question.

My boss was diagnosed with hypothyroid condition a few years back. Unfortunately for you, you cannot enter the military with that condition. He was allowed to stay in, and is currently taking meds.

Both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are disqualifying for entry into the armed forces.

as you know, either of these can make you very tired, they can lead to cancer. I think you should take great care of yourself. The military is very demanding on you 24/7. They have to be selective I hope you understand.
