It seems that there are a lot of people here who seem to say things which they wouldnt say in reality. I mean as a buddhist i dont say anything offensive to anyone face to face or hiding behind a computer. The muslims in Sudan took things too far when they jailed this lady for naming a teddy bear mohammed. However, great news today that she is being released. Now this early release was in part done by 2 muslim MPs who went over there and talked to the president. Does this not show - that there are two kinds of people - extremists and non-extremists? why did the people in sudan take offense while muslims around the world didnt? has anyone mentioned these two MPs and even thanked them? I for one am grateful that they helped out and showed us that there are EVEN good muslims in this world which is always hidden from us. And that not all 1.7 billion muslims are not bad. Every religion, every colour has bad people - we cannot paint an entire people by the same assumption.

Of course there are more than one faction in Sudan, why do you think there were all those protests after Friday prayers....Britain used to be the Colonial power in Sudan, so it was very unlikely that the Government would deal with a representative of the British Govt...that is why the two Peers went as Private individuals and not rep's of the Govt, but as two Muslims. They have been thanked by Gordon Brown and others. Like it or not, the Sudanese thought that blasphemy had been committed, and the teacher deserved to be punished. Lets face it if they had broken a law in Britain we would want them to be punished. They obviously take religious matters far more seriously than we do......
I think she was rather Naive to get involved with the teddy naming, and should have been more sensitive to local customs and realised how serious religious matters were.

Did anyone notice that while all the teddy bear dramataics have been going on - A U.N. or Red Cross inspection was going on in Darfur.

A cynic might say she was arrested as collateral against any unwanted demands.

Still can't understand what she was doing working for the murdering B******s.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous that this case got sooo much media attention.

The only thing I can put it down to is the Zionist war in the Middle East against the nation/s of Islam; their ownership/influence over western mainstream media; and the amount of anti-Islam sentiment this sort of story creates.

- A great way to rally popular support for an illegal (under international law) war and occupation.

they were not MPs they were Peers or members of the house of lords. And I would think that the President of Sudan was glad to get the matter settled as they made themselves look such idiots in the eyes of the rest of the world

Exactly good point. I don't know what the Koran says about other religions or what the old testament says about non Jewish/christian? people but if memory served there sure seemed a lot of wars documented.

I just judge their religion by what their holy book says they should do in any given situation. I am a firm believer that if you don't follow the "laws" or word" of your god then you aren't truly a Muslim. you're only spreading a hateful and dangerous religion. Their holy book says specifically to kill anyone who isn't Muslim, moreover it says it's a sin not too.
if you don't follow that and feel it's wrong you are a heretic, either that or not truly Muslim.

the whole situation was ridiculous.
i have much respect for the muslims who stood up and said they did not agree with it. i even saw one guy on the news say it was beyond belief because he was called mohammed and his parents were not guity of inciting hatred or insulting islam.
the more muslims that stand up for common sense in these situations, the better
