A year-and-a-half ago, I used to have an experience that made me feel that I was not alone at home. And that, a spirit was also living with me. And yeah, it is not a cooked-up story, but I did really feel so. However, fortunately, the spirit was neutral and wasn't trying to harm anyone. It was probably just that he was trying to be at the same house where, probably, he was too attached for a long period of time. Too strong attachments to something (an object, person, or issue) can often lead to an unwelcome situation, wherein the 'spirit' of the dead body tries to remain in and around the 'attachment', and is not willing to depart.
Some spirits are harmless and neutral, while others may try to harm.
However, no real need to feel scary (although it can be a bit scary at times); you could always chant a prayer, maybe, your favourite prayer and carry the Cross with you (or let it be around you). Most often, spirits do not harm. Sometimes, they just visit some old 'attachment', stay around a while, and quietly depart. So, I'm sure, this one will also depart peacefully.
Godspeed!

If it would make you feel better, get your house blessed.
You could do it yourself. Sprinkle salt in each room of your house. Go through each room with a crucifix, and say something like,"Heavenly Father, please release whatever negativity is here into the white light of the Holy Spirit." (in each room.) If you want holy water, I've heard that it works if you put a bowl of water in the sun for 3 hours, and every hour on the hour make the sign of the cross over it.
(And well, even if it doesn't work, what have you got to lose?)

Relax. You have your own guardian spirits to protect you. Consider consulting a local shamanic practitioner for more help with the spiritual issue and a material doctor to make sure there isn't something going on with your brain chemistry.

Call an exorcist or a paranormal investigator (the type who finds logical reasons for things, not some nutjob). Then, if they find nothing, call a psychiatrist. I believe in the paranormal, but I also believe that a lot of things can be explained.

What you do is step back, take a deep breath and be rational about your situation.
Then come up with reasonable an explanation for what is happening. E.g. wind, pipes making noise etc.
Your fear is all that is scaring you; it builds on itself but in hindsight, you are winding yourself up.

Give up your medieval superstitions that have been propagated through a religion of repackaged pagan polytheism.
And cut back on the drugs.
