You mums not happy probably coz you went behind her back. You should be able to tell your mum everything if she doesn't like what your doing she can have her opinion, its you who has to deal with it at the end of the day. Tattoos are not a bad thing or a big issue, its art and its a way of expressing yourself. Talk to your mum, apologise say your sorry for keeping it from her and you know you shouldn't its just a tattoo its not as if its something major.

She is probably most disappointed that you did it illegally obviously. My mom recently saw my second one but I'm 19. She just asked that I keep them tasteful and hideable so that I can look professional. Give it time, talk to her and don't do anything else permanent or obvious (like piercings) behind her back. Being nearly 18 is still a sign of rebellian, that is why most parents don't like their kids getting them. They want control until it's not theirs anymore. Just be glad she didn't get pissed off and go back to sue whoever did it. She does have that right since you are still legally under her thumb. She'll be okay, just talk to her in time and don't sneak around with anything else to regain her trust.
-No where in the United States is it legal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18 without a parents consent if that is even allowed. Being older than 16 makes no difference. She is technically still a minor therefore, a serious law was broken to get it. Canada requires parent approval for 16 or older and 18 alone while most of the UK has a rule of 18 or older being the bottom line. Most states don't allow underage tattoos.

Your mom will get over it, however she is disappointed as you went behind her back and got a tattoo and never told her about it. I beleive that you should start earning back her trust by being hinest about what you are doing. Make sure in the future that you inform your mother about decisions that you will make. Parents like to know that their kids can come to them and tell them stuff, and I think that you should be honest with your mom at all times from now on.

it takes sometime to get over the initial disappointments but mother doesn't get mad for a long time. I think the best thing you should do now is go talk to her make her understand why you got it without telling her. i think the reason is that she thinks you lie to her. You did Kept a secret from her. After your talk she might still not talking but it makes her see your side of the story. Then its all action to show her that you are not a disappointment in her eyes. Remember time heals everything.

Sit her down and talk to her, if your grown up enough to get a tattoo then your grown up enough to deal with the consequences, my mum always looks at me all disappointed when she sees my tattoo on my back but she understands why i got it and what the tattoo represents, she also understands that it is my body ( i havent got round to mentioning the other 2 tattoos yet but i will when the time is right)

Let me guess. She has been very adamant about you not getting one, she has patiently explained over and over why it is a very bad idea and probably on several occasions warned you in advance that her reaction would be one of great sadness and disappointment, she didn't waiver one bit on this issue--- but that wasn't as important to you as the tattoo - right ?? Good luck with that one.
PS-- I do have one suggestion, open a bank account and show her that you are making regular deposits to prove that you will be able to afford the many painful and expensive laser removal treatments that you will no doubt want when you have reached the age of reason.

[so begins Klepto's attempt at a serious answer!!] -
Sit her down & talk to her, I'd say. Once she cools donwn and things pass...maybe wait a day or two. Try to be understanding of her feelings on the subject...and, once you've heard her out, explain your side...a heartfelt apology for not informing her of the matter, (if you're sincere) is a key in winning back her trust and happiness...explain you did it for yourself; not in spite of her or anything like that.
Best of luck!

The exact same thing happened to me.
Just give her some time, don't bug her about it and say things like, "I'm sorry" or even worse "But it's my body!"
Leave it alone for a while and eventually she'll come around and forger about it.
Best of luck!

Use a magic marker and make fake tattoos all over your body. Then show her all of those, and say see Mom 1 isnt so bad, she might grow to love it.
Shes probably just mad you didnt tell or show her before now. Her baby is growing up.
