Every person in the reserves I know has already been made active and has served or is serving in Iraq.
My brother just got back a week ago.

Well its a little late to try and change it and at some point you will probably be activated and deployed-it just may not be to Afghanistan or Iraq. Some are deployed elsewhere to back-fill those active duty that have deployed so it may not be as bad as what you think. I think you should try to look at this objectively and understand that you are at the beginning of something that will have an impact on you for the rest of your life. How well you deal with that and accept it will determine how much you get out of it and how easily or well you come through it. That's the first thing. The second thing I would say is learn and take advantage of every training opportunity and school they want to send you to. Often times this will help you down the road with respect to promotions and also if you decide to have any kind of long term career. I have seen many people have a better or more positive experience with the military if they have and keep a positive attitude-irregardless of where they may be sent or have to go. Good luck!

Im an MP and by using coaching myself and an entire of persons felt the comparable way your feeling now, its known. What i tell could those that inquire from me approximately starting to be to be a member of the army is register for reserves first and if u then dont suggestions being far off from domicile then u can continually swap to lively accountability. 2nd factor i'm able to tell u is verify ur settlement isn't very long because of the fact as an MP there going to tell u that u could have an 8 3 hundred and sixty 5 days settlement 5 lively 3 inactive yet thats a lie. Ive seen lots of those with me at osut that had purely 18 month, 3 years, or 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days settlement. That final factor is remember that its no longer all relaxing and video games and u gets taken care of like s**t for a on a similar time as.

Don't be nervous to join the reserves. Be nervous to join Active Duty. You may get pulled into Iraq but YOU signed up for it, don't regret it. Why did you join if you're going to Wuss out like this? The military doesn't need people like yourself to ruin it's morale right now.

It is natural to be a bit nervous. However you sound like you didn't think this through all the way. It will depend on your MOS to see if you would have to deploy.
If you really don't think you can hack it you might want to talk to your recruiter now.

Yeah, you get nervous before basic. And you may deploy, but you can't pretend for a second that you didn't know the Army's job is to fight.

Everyone who has joined has been nervous about it. That's normal. I'm sure that you are a legal adult of sound mind who has willingly made your decision to join. You have two options: 1.) suck up your trepidations, be a man, do your duty and excel, or 2.) whine, be a child and quit now.

Time to Cowboy up! You can handle it. Think of all the millions who did it before you and all the terrible times they had. If they can do it so can you. It got me through the Army.

First, be proud of yourself for serving your country, second, if you did not want to go, just curious, but why did you sign up? If you do go, be careful and come home safely, you have a lot of support here at home.
