Because Cain wasn't the one who was murdered -- Abel was. And Cain married his sister.

You're assuming that the First humans made were the only humans made. I don't recall the entire genesis story, but I don't remember reading, "God created 2 people and figured they were enough."

Either God went over to the land of Nod, or whatever it was, and popped a couple of women over there, or Cain brought one with him. The bible doesn't specify, as far as I know, so it may be reasonable to assume that he brought one with him.

So, let's take assume that the bible didn't leave out God going around creating humans elsewhere and see where that takes us.

Where did she come from? Adam and Eve had other children over their multi-hundred year lives. She could easily have been one of their daughters, and left for the land of Nod before Cain was banished, or she could have gone there after him, or with him. However you look at it, if you read the bible and take it for literal truth, then clearly, she was his sister.

Either that, or Cain and Eve got it on. Doesn't seem quite as likely, though.

This is not one of the cases where the bible contradicts itself. It's not exactly what I'd call unbelievable, but that's looking at it through the prism of 21st century American morality. Back then, there were no precedents, so inbreeding wasn't frowned upon. Heck, much of European nobility was pretty inbred until fairly recently.

As to your specific question, Adam and Eve had more than 2 sons. The only ones I know about are Cain, Abel and Seth (who was born after the murder), but the bible clearly states that Adam had other daughters and sons. I don't think it specified that they were all with Eve, so I suppose some of them might have been with his own daughters. I really don't know. Hey, if you believe the bible, the guy lived 800 years and had a whole planet to populate. If his own offspring were the only humans, then he didn't have much to choose from.

They had over a hundred kids. Cain and Abel are the two best known. But if Adam and Eve were the first two humans, was there a bit of incest involved?

In the Bible, there's two separate 'Creations'. The first is by the 'Elohim' (a word not put in Bibles), a plural form of a Hebrew word that includes both male & female genders, meaning 'Gods' or 'Pantheon' but commonly called 'the Heavenly Host'. This is the original creation of humanity, plants & animals & is covered in Chapter 1. This is where Cain's wife came from. Chapter 2 then talks about one particular member of the Pantheon, a God called 'Yahweh' (not mentioned by name in the Bible, as It's too sacred to say or speak). He assembles His own creation experiment in Eden, fashioning a man from soil. His people are the Hebrews, the Bible is the story of their descendants & their covenant with Yahweh. Everyone else are creations of the Elohim & are therefore not part of His covenant, neither are they born into sin.

I think the Adam and Eve story was just part of the picture--there were probably other groups of people that had also evolved. I don't think we were all just plopped down here, anyway--Adam and Eve were probably the descendants of other humanoids (I don't think even God would have been satisfied with his first draft--I've known too many artists). Besides, the Bible does mention at least one other son, and omits any mention of daughters--most likely there were daughters too, and as much as we dislike the idea now, he could have married one of his sisters.

The Bible is the final authority (Genesis 4:1----17)

Have you noticed there are a lot of humans with the
very same 'Cain' mentality (murderers)

Yes, Cain produced offspring .His son Enoch was a
God-fearing man which only shows that Cain's son was
more like his Uncle Abel (wisely used his freedom of choice)

The Bible states that Adam and Eve were the first created, but it doesn't say that they were the only created throughout the whole world. This leaves me to believe that when Cain was outcasted/cursed, he found one of the others that God created by the well, married, and had children.

Of course, this doesn't mean I'm right by all means, but that is how I believe it went.

Because Adam and Eve had many children.

Every word in the Bible is true and speaks to Gods Law.

The Bible names only two sons of Adam and Eve.

Incest is against Gods law.

Cain and Abel would have had to marry their hypothetical sisters.

The Bible is perfect and unambiguous.

I think my head will explode.

Well actually, Cain and the other brother were the only children of Adam and Eve that had stories about them. If you read on in Genesis, it will say that Adam and Eve lived more than 1000 years and had many more children.

they had more than just 2 sons.

in fact it even talks about a 3rd son, Seth.

given that they lived around 600 years, i doubt they only had 3 kids....

(if your going to question, might as well question the beginning - what was concept of time and how did they know adam lived 600 and some years old? are these 365 day years or what?)

There were other humans... those created on the 6th day. This explains the tribes that Cain was cast into after the murder. Adam and Eve were created seperate and were the first of Gods choosen people (Jews).
