What Does the Bible say about Witnessing?

Webster’s definition of witnessing is to bear witness to one's religious convictions

The bible says, “He who wins souls is wise.” (Proverbs 11:30)

Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)

Jesus came to seek and to save what was lost. (Luke 19:10)
As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. (John 20:21)
We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. (1 John 2:3-6) Jesus gave his life for our sins. His mission was to seek the lost. We are not suppose to be ashamed of Jesus. We are suppose to following in his ways. If God’s love were in us we would live according to the way Jesus walked in the bible. If we know how to be forgiven of our sins and go to heaven, then why would we not share this with anyone? If you do not share this good news with people then you are not sharing God’s love. This is a very selfish thing to do.

The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: 'When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head. Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.' "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself. (Ezekiel 33:1-9) Once we are born again we are called to be watchmen. Are you going to just sit on the wall and not join the battle of good and evil? Or are you going to stand up and blow the trumpet? When we hear the good news and keep it to ourselves, then we are not being a good servant to others. If you let people in your life die in their sins and not share the gospel of Jesus Christ, then their blood will be on your hands. Do you think we are living in the end times? If you do, are you telling others or are you just sitting on the wall. Friend be bold and stand up for Jesus! If you haven’t noticed we are now in a spiritual fight and we need to be a witness for Jesus. Everyone is suppose to be a witness for Jesus. When was the last time you told someone what Jesus did for them and how he changed your life? If it was not today then what are you waiting for? Go tell someone. If you are asking who, then just be quiet and listen to what God tells you. God will put someone on your heart.

The watchman were set to alert and to alarm the people of any danger coming. No doubt this has spiritual meanings as well. As Christians we are to witness and warn people about Jesus Christ and the impending tribulation to come. We need to be telling others about Jesus Christ and his love for all mankind. We also need to warn them who will not believe and tell them there is coming a day soon when it will be to late, either death or even the rapture may come. The Bible says today is the day of Salvation. Come Quickly Lord Jesus Come Quickly.

The watchman has eyes that see. He is one who is not just looking but he is one who has fellowship with the Lord as the Shepherd. The watchman is set to pray and to alert the Shepherd as to what is taking place within the flock.

There may be all kinds of needs within the body of Christ. As sheep in the pasture of God we need to be under the loving caring eyes of one another. We can each be looking out for the other through our prayerfulness. Somehow watching and praying go hand in hand.

Practically I experienced this with a sister who was experiencing some problems. She was not in a position to come out and say what was happening in her being but somehow under the watchful eyes of other brothers and sisters we can pick up that maybe a fellow sheep is having a hard time. What do we do> WE declare to the Lord what we see. We call upon Him as the Shepherding One to appear to this One. The Lord knows how to shepherd according to what He sees inwardly in the brothers and sister. He knows the real situation, and what is deeper than even our eyes can tell and discern.
I just really appreciate this principle that the Lord has put in place for us. He sets up watchmen to be faithful to care for those in their midst. We can each be such ones. Loving our brothers and sisters and reaching them through our intercession before the throne of Grace. This prompts the Lord as the Shepherd to act on behalf of this one. Isn't it beautiful the way we can work along with the Lord for the going on of our brothers and sistes?

I just thank the Lord brother Don for the way we as brothers and sisters in Christ have watched as the " watchmen' for one another in the forum.
I tell you brother.. I have experienced the care and the concern and the love here among us in a way that is so dear and precious to my heart. The way we encourage eachother in the word... in the ministering of the truth and the word. Wow. Makes you just KNOW in your heart and spirit that GOD IS REAL. Where people who have never met or known the other can have such a connection in Christ that transcends all the human concepts and limitations:)

May we be ever so watchful and prayerful for what the Lord has invested in one another.

Wonderdful Q brother don
yours in Christ

Not sure what all I can add as Victor above me said a lot. Blessings upon him immedieatly for the truths he speaks and for you Don for asking the right questions, that always honor God.
God has called many of us to believe, few will, and even fewer will answer the full call to believe, love and obey.
But , we are all called and responsible for the choices we make, as indivuals and then for those in corporate leadership, ie pastors, deacons , elders etc.
Many of us are also called to be a watchman on the wall. I was called years ago, and I must say it is not always a very popular thing to be, but I consider it a priviledge to do as God calls me to do.
A watchman will not only watch for things in their own lives, to discern truth and do all God says to do and count it all as joy. But a true watchman is someone that SEES it all, and will speak to offer encourage , or even to warn of rebuke for going the wrong way. WE dont do it in our own judgment, we do it , warning of Gods impending judgment.
Today, so many churches are so seeker friendly, and speak to itchy ears, telling them whatever they want to hear, and think they need. Think is the huge word in that sentence. Its not what is needed at all.
WE must be only of Gods truths, and doing what all He calls us to do. We see our born again ppl are to think and act, and we see how the church of Acts is to be run. When we see things contrary to that, we are called to speak. Like I said, not at all popular, and often a leader will call you devisive But, the fact is, the ones that are divisive are the ones that bring all the error into the church. They preach unity so big and not to question any leader. I am like, Guys, did you ever hear of Jim Jones???? HELLO HERE EVERYBODY>
Unity is only unity when it is of God, of the faith, truth, and done in yet, yet in BOLDNESS, just as JEsus preached as well. They dont understand that when this is our calling, we cant remain silent. WE are called by God to speak. and we do. A real pastor will love it and welcome it But most want you silenced or gone. But, we know that you cant silence a child of God. WE will speak unto perfection and unto sacrifice, just as Jesus did. oh yes.
God is giving me much prophecy, and currently the church I am at, doesnt allow it as I guess someone years ago said things the pastor didnt like.
so what? Let the Spirit fall and discernment shows us truth.
You cant stop prophecy becuase a few have done it wrong.
We are currently wondering where to go next, to a church, that will allow us to be watchmen on the wall, and give our prophecies and visions freely as God gives them to us.
We know some ppl can get out there and speak and be so far from the truth. But any pastor with discernment should automatically know the difference and he calls us leaders.
So, he knows.
Just pray for us and the leaders of our church, as we seek God for the next direction He calls us to.
God bless you.

Christ informed peter what used to be going to occur to Him, and Peter right here calls our Lord a liar, that those matters is not going to come t o move. Peter right here turns out to suppose he is aware of extra or bigger than the Lord what's to take position. placing himself above the Lord. that's of path from devil.
