I have a chocolate labrador called Ditzy! I love her to pieces and the only bad thing about her is that she stinks!
I nevr really noticed it before but when my sister came over to stay she REALLY noticed it!
What is a good way to get rid of the smell?

I would bring her to the vet to rule our ear and/or skin issues. Could be allergies that is causing the foul odor. Bathing could make this issue worse.

I have a chocolate lab and regardless of color, they need baths. Labs are famous for rolling in anything they smell, which usually is very stinky to us. It drives me nuts, but can't stop it. Both my labs (the other is black) go to the groomer every other month. In between grooming I use the Rinse free shampoo and also dog wipes for quick fixes. Petsmart has some great rinse free shampoo that is so easy to use and doesn't dry the hair out. Another problem labs have depending on if they swim alot is the algae from the water. Mine loves to swim in ponds, of course they always smell really bad after wards. Check the ears and make sure there is no infection, and the skin for the same. If either of these are infected, obviously they will have a smell. Ear mites can cause an odor as well without the ear appearing infected. Good Luck

It is hard to tell when you dog is dirty from the dark colour I know. But you should wash your dog at least once a month.
The reason why you dog smells and your friends dog might not is because Labradors are prone to that doggie smell. Your friends dog might not be. Also my dog stays outside, this also adds to the doggie odor, maybe yours might too.
Go down to the store buy some dog shampoo one that is especially for doggie odors. If you want another that is for bacteria.
What I do with my Alaskan Malamute cross Bull Mastiff is I wet her with water, lather up the shampoo, wash it off, repeat that. Then dry and brush her, then once she is completely dry I put lots of baby powder on her.
Then she comes out smelling gorgeous and is clean too.
I hope this helps, good luck!

It very much depends on the breed of dogs whether they have a strong smell or not.
In my own experience, Labs and Retrievers have a very strong "doggie smell", especially when wet.
After you pet them, your hand tends to smell quite a bit like dog.. ;)
Definitely take her to the vet to make sure her skin is okay and she doesn't have any problems. But other than that - regular baths and some treats and food for skin and coat should do the trick.

if she has nothing going on that would medically explain the smell, stress could be a problem. bathe her at least 6 times/year. my dog stinks too and i don't know if it's just that some dogs are stinkier than others or if it's stress.

Each dog is different. You have a working dog with a medium length coat. It needs to be bathed about once a month! You'd be shocked the dirt and grime that will come off of her.

Healthy dogs don't stink unless they roll in something nasty. Consider switching to a better grade of dog food without wheat products.

Go to a pet specialty store such as Petsmart or Petco and pick up a shampoo for odor control. I use one on my dog and it keeps her smelling good for a while.

Dogs are different just like people. She probably needs a bath and more often being a dark color has nothing to do with it
