We got my 3 y.o. a really cute toddler bed with Dora bedding a week ago. She likes it, but she won't sleep on it. She sleeps on the floor, on a sleeping bag. That wouldn't bother me, but she wakes up in the middle of night a lot with some kind of bad dreams. So I'm thinking, should I just take the sleeping bag away, is she going to get too used to the floor? Or should I just give her more time and then take it away?

I should say that I did take the sleeping bag away last night and she just had an absolute fit and couldn't stop crying. So I gave it back.

I'd give her more time. She'll transition when she's ready, if you push her into anything you may make it worse. I'm sure you've already thought of this, but have you tried putting the sleeping bag on the bed? That may be a good compromise for both of you - then you can take the sleeping bag away when she's been in the bed for a few weeks.

When sleeping is concerened, my thought is that the most important thing is that they get it - it doesn't really matter where they are.

I would put the sleeping bad on the bed and put her to bed in the sleeping bag on the bed. For the first night or two it may be helpful to sit down and read her a book or two while she lays in the sleeping bag in bed. This is so she can create a feeling of comfort in her new bed. Also if she has anything that you will allow her to decorate it with that would be cool too, because that would give her a sense of ownership also.

Put the sleeping bag on the bed.
The bad dreams don't necessarily have anything to do with the bed, unless you took the crib away at the same time.
It's just an anxiety thing, and she will get over it.

I say that this may be her comfort zone. Give her more time try putting her in the bed during her nap times. That is how I got my daughter to start sleeping in her bed. I would allow her to fall asleep then i would put her in the bed. Eventually it will work don't just take her of quickly go slowly taking baby steps.

Is she too big for the toddler bed? My niece outgrew hers by the time she was 3 and was put in a twin. My son went straight from a crib to a double sized bed 1 month shy of his 3rd birthday and did not have any problems with the transition and he LOVED his crib.

I close my infant's door (he won't be able to open doorways) and positioned him into mattress as quickly as. If he gets away from mattress, that's advantageous. His room is infant-proofed and risk-free. This works o.k. for us via fact he's making the determination of the place to sleep (that's very practically continuously in his mattress). I had no longer something yet disastrous outcomes and no sleep while i attempted putting him back in his mattress. He basically thought it improve into hilarious and a pastime and actually I in all probability improve into in there 50 cases or extra a evening. It improve into so tiring and undesirable. you need to objective a gate in case you do no longer desire to close the door, yet my infant screamed with a gate, maybe via fact he ought to work out us interior the hallway and ought to pay attention extra of persons being wakeful. as quickly as we closed the door, he slept by the evening in his mattress without crying interior of a evening or 2. the 1st evening or 2 he slept by the evening without crying, yet he slept via the door. often times I nevertheless locate him via the door now, yet that's something i will stay with.
