She is always saying she wants to marry someone (RJ from Over The Hedge (hes a raccoon), Peter Pan, others) and says "When I get married can I kiss him" or she'll say she talks to RJ/Peter Pan on the phone, hes coming over, hes her husband etc. Does your child do this? She does not see me and my husband kiss passionately - just a pop kiss when he leaves/comes home... she doesn't watch anything but cartoons/kids shows... I am just wondering if this curiosity is her age? I didn't think she would act this boy crazy at her age! Thanks to answers.

BTW she will be 4 in January.

My daughter is 4 and is the same way. She thought that last year when she was a flower girl at a friend's wedding that she got married to the ringbearer. She keeps kept asking when she was going to go and live with him. She was VERY upset when I explained that she didn't have a husband yet. She said she really wants to know what he will look like. Right now the next door neighbor is her main target for marriage. He is 4 too. She doesn't mention kissing, but DOES mention that they will have babies together (ACK!). Thankfully she didn't ask how that happens yet. She even went so far as to tell me that she wants drugs when she has a baby so it won't hurt. I have no idea where she gets this stuff, it's probably because I'm pregnant right now!

It's normal - all children go through this at an early age, and then seem to forget about it overnight!
I think she sees marriage as a loving expression (how did you explain marriage to her? Usually children are told "when two people love each other....") - she likes the feeling of being loved by Mommy & Daddy and wants that in the future. Same with the kissing; you give her kisses and tell her you love her - it's not a sexual thing at her age, it's about feeling loved & being loved. One day soon she's probably gonna wake up and tell you she's never getting married! Kids are fascinating people!

My daughter went to preschool at age 2 1/2 and by the end of the week she had a boyfriend. I was shocked. Crazy thing is it has been a year and a half and he doesn't go to her school anymore but he is still her boyfriend and she is going to marry him and kiss him. She has already kissed a neighbor. Her father and I plan on fitting her with an iron chastity belt when she goes into elementary school.

My soon-to-be 4 year old daughter "marries" her dolls by having them kiss. She got it from the princesses in the movies that are always looking for "true love" and being woken with a kiss.

This is totally normal. Kids like to play pretend all the time. This may make her feel more grown up, but in the long run, she is just having fun. Its probably healthy for her, because she is working her imagination. Hope this helps.

I think this is totally normal my 3yr old is currently dating Mickey Mouse. She does not like kissing so she walks around with my cell phone and pretends to talk to him. We were worried to but we spoke with my cousin a pediatrician she says alot of kids does this and not to take away from her imagination. She said if she did not have an imagination then you worry.

She's Normal
