Absolutely Microsoft tried to copy Apple, (I have no problem stating names here! lol) and failed to do so properly.

However, it may not be that they failed, it may be that Microsoft tried not to be extremely obvious in their copy actions, yet they failed at that too! Ha-ha!

Now, I actually like Vista and understand that all new OSs have to go through, "growing up" stages. People are forgetting how many patches and service packs XP went through and XP is still receiving patches and corrections. However, XP has been used for so long now in between major OS releases that many have become so familiar with it and enjoy it grownup stability, they don't want to start all over again and wait while Vista growsup too. lol

Vista Service Pack 1 is out already, and it is a very stable and secure platform. I am looking forward to seeing how much better it becomes as time goes on.

Some don't enjoy the added visual affects. These same people who don't like the "fluff" with XP, complain of the fluff in Vista.

The major complaint I have with Vista is the changed names for common areas and components. It was stupid and causes confusion with people now switching from XP to Vista. I don't think it was needed and it only causes upset, rather than making anything in the OS easier or better.

I don't know, If they were trying to copy the mac, then it wouldn't be such a pain in the butt to use. I got to use vista for the first time this weekend, on a co worker's laptop. I had to click the mouse 3-4 more times for each task...what's up with that?
