If the troops were pulled out now, the country would slip ever more slowly into chaos. The operations we do in Iraq at the minute are ones of maintaining stability, rebuilding, and hearts and minds policy. People who say yes they should be removed (while that is a justified opinion of fair sized majority) need to realize, that if the troops left now, the west would be put to shame. You cant just invade a country and then once you have removed its government, leave it, its ridiculous. The troops over there now are seeing the job through, whilst still involved in fighting rebels and loyalists to the Saddam regime. This is in an effort to stabilize Iraq and get it back on its feet. As a thriving, economically strong and loyal to the west country. If we left now, the job would be half done, too many have put their lives on the line for that to happen and the west to be shamed for leaving Iraq in chaos, slowly but surely, Over the foreseeable future, we will still be involved in operations in Iraq.

No not right now. We have way too much invested in this and we are on the verge of winning it all. Terrorism is down all over the world and I'm sure that much of it is due to the US being in Iraq and fighting the insurgents. When the time comes that the Iraqi police and Army can take over then it will be time to leave but now they'd just be slaughtered and another Saddam would take over.

By all means , if we don't pull our troops out immediately then 25 million Iraqis might actually be free.

And if that happens then the American people might think that Bush was at least partially right and they might decide to boot the Dems back out of Washington.

And we all know that would be a disaster, after all they are doing such a great job getting the needed funding legislation done on time, I even understand that there will only be 3 million or so late tax refunds next year.

We should protect our American soldiers to the very best of our ability, first and foremost. We should then in a non-Biased way, evaluate what would be the repercussions of the cut and run philosophy. Then, and only then should we make that decision. As an ex soldier, I understand that Americans die in War. Sometimes that's what it takes to continue to be Americans. We must do what is best for the countries future safety, not what is popular at the moment.

Maybe it would be better the bring all the Iraqis here and leave the troops there. Just a thought.
