I believe you are talking about communications from soldier to soldier?

If you are talking small squad maneuvers like a sergeant telling 2 privates to move around the left of a barricade then it can be done by telling them to move to the left around the barricade, However, there are also infantry hand signals .

see FM 21-60

If however you mean through telecommunications then 99% of all communications are through secure communications. Scrambled/encoded radio/telephone.

Yes, most communications is encrypted all the time to avoid anything getting out in the open. This has been going on in some fashion for hundreds or thousands of years.

The move Wind Talkers was pretty good. The Navajo spoke in their native language to relay messages and coordinates. The Japanese had no idea what it was, and they were never able to come close to figuring it out.

All services use hand signals when operating under stealth. Snipers with their spotters use coded words when the snipe gets ready to pick out a target and eliminate it. In WW II they used a certain tribe of American Indians to transmit informaton between companies in their native tongue. The Navajo were called the Wind Talkers. You may want to check out the movie. I enjoyed it!
