I interviewed for a career that took 3 months of interviewing. The interview process takes a long time, and I agree with the last post: calling to explain you have other offers on the table is not a bad suggestion. I would still wait until Wednesday or later. What clinched the career I interviewed for was a sent them a thank you letter via FedEx. It cost me $15, but it gave them the notion that I am serious about the job. You could send that out today, and wait until Thursday to call. If this is a big company, then checking references shouldn’t get your hopes up. I told someone before that reference checking was a good sign, and then they didn’t get the job. Send the thank you letter, wait until Wednesday or after to call, and good luck.

Yes. If they checked your references, that is a good sign that you are still in the running. If I were you, I'd wait until later this week -- perhaps Thursday or Friday.

One thing you could do is call them or write a brief e-mail to thank them for the interview, let them know you are still interested and looking forward to hearing from them, and give them your best contact information. I wouldn't suggest just calling and asking if you got the job; that displays impatience, whereas calling to thank them/update contact info/etc. comes across as more thoughtful.

Good luck!

Relax a little. If they checked your references on Friday, that's a very good sign. It often takes a day or a few days to get formal paperwork done to get an offer ready. If you don't hear anything in the next few days, give them a call.

Good luck.

Chcecking references is a good sign, however, it's not payday yet. I used this method to find out where I stand. Call them and say - you have a couple of offers on the table, however, you were extremely interested in that position - and it is your first choice - you just wanted to know if you were still being considered for the position. That typically gets the ball rolling. I've done it several times and it typically shows them they need to come back to you quickly, or risk losing you. Good luck.

They will call you surely. I would wait at least until sometime later tomorrow if you are going to call. Though asking for the references is a good start as they are clearly interested.
