okay. If you have the symtoms of meningitis you must go to the emergency room now. Don't waste time on yahoo answers. It can kill within 4 hours.
Classic symptoms are a headache, stiff neck and dislike of bright light. Other symptoms can include difficulty supporting own weight, fever, vomiting and diarrhoea and confusion and drowsiness.
The symptoms of pneumococcal meningitis are the same as meningococcal meningitis.
Meningococcal septicaemia
Classic symptoms are aching limbs (particularly leg pain), cold hands and feet and a rash which starts like pin prick spots and develops rapidly into purple bruising.
Other symptoms may include difficulty supporting own weight, fever, vomiting and diarrhoea and confusion and drowsiness, as well as difficulty breathing and change in skin colour.
The majority of people (over 50%) with meningococcal septicaemia develop a rash of tiny ‘pink prick' spots which can rapidly develop into purple bruising. To identify the rash, press a glass tumbler (cup) against it and if the rash does not fade, it could be meningococcal septicaemia.

Sometimes patients hear things and get all bent out of shape.
You have a fever, headache, stiff neck and are tired, with a sore throat, and you probably heard the doctor tell your Mom and Dad that there is no specific treatment for Viral Meningitis. And this is because it can come from a Virus or a bacterial background, it does NOT mean you are going to die. THE ILLNESS IS USUALLY MILD AND CLEARS UP IN A WEEK.
You are going to get to study to be a pilot and you will be with your sister again.
Viral Meningitis is an infection of the fluid in the spinal cord and fluid that surrounds the brain.
Antibotics for Viral Meningitis will be given.
Now you can start to worry when the doctor says it is Bacterial Meningitis.
And because Bacterial M. And Viral M. have almost the same symptoms, parents should see their childs doctor immediately when they think the child has meningitis.
Hope this make you feel better.
And If it does not, Google, Both, Bacterial and Viral Meningitis and see for yourself.

Is viral meningitis a serious disease?
Viral ("aseptic") meningitis is serious but rarely fatal in persons with normal immune systems. Usually, the symptoms last from 7 to 10 days and the patient recovers completely. Bacterial meningitis, on the other hand, can be very serious and result in disability or death if not treated promptly.
If you have viral and are getting treated, I think you'll be fine.

OK first you have to check if it actually is meningitis. So do you have a headache, fever, nausea, cold hands and feet and muscle pain? Also if you have a rash then do the glass tumbler test: that is get a glass and roll it on any purple spots that you notice underneath your skin. If they don't fade you MUST go to a doctor. If you suspect you may have meningitis then go to the hospital immediately.
These symptoms may not appear in that order but you HAVE to trust you instincts. Trust me meningitis is one fast acting illness and even if you don't die from it there is a good chance of irreparable damage. So go to the hospital and ignore anything anyone tells you. Trust yourself and get medical examination.

I think you are a whack job that needs to get herself checked out by a head doctor rather then a medical doctor..
i find it interesting you were well enough to be stressing over your "fiance" yesterday..and now your dying..
i also like that you asked the same questions 9 hours ago..that said pretty much the same thing..and that your not dead
its a bit strange that you are well enough to be up and typing when most people would be in extreme pain in their bed..
your taking something that is very serious and making a complete joke out of it..its time for you to grow up .. there are people on yahoo answers that have lost someone from meningitis..and you should put yourself in their shoes before doing something as stupid as this
quit trying to get attention from people and tell your parents you need to mental help before you end up hurting the people around you

Uh, get off the computer!
A lot of people have meningitis and survive. Especially viral is almost never deadly if diagnosed properly.
I assume you are being treated?
Don't worry, you will a fine pilot. Go to the hospital and do what they say!!!

Meningitis doesn't by any means indicate a death sentence. My brother survived meningitis and ecephalitis at the same time. It's miserable, but with supportive care, you should have a full recovery. Of course if you are just sitting at home, feeling sorry for yourself and not getting medical help....well ya reap what ya sew.

If you think your going to die of some disease go to the hospital instead of writing on yahoo answers. There are doctors who can help you in your local area (because if you have internet you have doctors). SO GO, if your being serious!!!!

Visit http://cdc.gov/ncidod/ which is the website for the National Center for Disease Control. While I do not know the actual answer to your question, I think you'll have "TIME" to get your answers from them.
