I need advice. I currently work part time and go to school full time. I really need extra money and I want to maybe start working full time or 35 hours a week. I really like the job I am at right now but I need extra money and they do not have the full time hours I want/need. Should I look somewhere else? I am just sick of always being broke. I just need extra cash.

I really dont have extra expenses...I don't even have the money to go out or shop for myself. I don't own a car and the money I earn goes right back into school. I only have basic cable and I have two roommates to help with the cost and I am still broke every month. I have looked at my budget. Many times. I need more hours.

Dangerous business fighting for hours... I'm not sure how much money you're earning an hour at your current job or how long you've been working there but what I do know it can be difficult to find another job when you're a full time student. I wouldn't recommend working full time because that will interfere with school.
My brother had the same problem as far as money when he was going to college. Fortunately the school had a job placement program that landed him a few good jobs that pay well. Some even offered to pay his school expenses.
My suggestion would be to take advantage of that if your school offers it. As for being broke... try planning out your spending for the month and keep track of where your money is going. Once you have a budget in mind then you will know how much money you will need to make when you're looking for jobs.

First of all, I would take a hard honest look at your budget. Keep track of every dollar that you spend. Then you need to find one or two things that you can eliminate or spend less money on. I know this is not easy! You might find out that you make enough money now. Things like cable tv, high speed internet, 5 dollar coffees, drinks at the bar, etc. Are not necessities. The fact is, most people will also think that they need to make more money. The reality is we all need to spend less. You will find that the more money you make, the more money you spend. If you can get stricter with your budget, that would really help. if you are already living modestly, you might look for a job that offers more money for the same hours worked. Maybe something that pays commission or tips. I used to manage a furniture store and my top salesperson only worked 3 days a week. She earned more money than any of my full time people. Good luck.

This is tough because my first response is to keep focused on your education, get that out of the way then you can focus more on your career. But what I am seeing is someone who wants a few more things and needs some money for them. So would it be difficult for you to ask if your current job has at least 5 more hours that you could work a week. Just adding 5 hours more will increase your pay but not break your employers bank account.
Although, I am still inclined to say, stick it out just a little longer until you finish your schooling and then you will have time to search for the job you will need.
Sometimes things look very far off from where we are standing now, but remember already we have gone through a year now....where did that go? :-)

I would not look for another job right now, especially since you like the job you have. It is very difficult to work full time an go to school full time. It might be good to look for another part time job to earn some extra money and wait until your current job to have the extra hours you need. You also give yourself some leeway to see if you can indeed handle working that much while your in school. If it got to be too much you could easily go back to just working one job. If you change jobs then you may be stuck in a bad situation like having to quit and have no job or having your school work suffer.

You can look somewhere else and if you find something better then switch jobs, I know you said "you like this job" but you don't like "not having money" and you need more hours so you need to chose what out weighs each other. You can sell things on ebay or a consignment store, to make some extra cash...good luck to you

One job I worked at while I was in school was as a security guard. The post I was at I was able to study part of the time and do rounds the rest of it. By having this type of job I was able to work full-time and go to school full-time and not let my grades slip. I would recommend that you look for a job that will let you do some homework, never give up school for anything. I am in my 30's finishing up school. Good luck in school.

Try posting a notice for co-workers that you are trying to pick up extra shifts, especially now that's it's holiday season. But don't forget to look at the big picture, don't let your grades drop for quick money. That is your future to help prevent the need for multiple jobs and extra hours. Good luck on what ever you decide.

It might be too much on you to work full time and go to school. Try to pick up some waitress/bartending shift somewhere so you can stay at the job you are at but still make some quick cash.

My daughter is in college and work two jobs. She found an extra job at the movie theater. They are flexible with her schedule, and you can work afternoons and or nights. She goes to movies for free also (extra perk). Even though you need extra money you need to find something that will be flexible with your schedule. Good Luck..

YOUR PROBLEM IS YOU ARE JUST SICK OF BEING BROKE. NO, YOU DO NOT NEED A FULL TIME JOB. ALL THAT IS GOING TO DO IS INTERFER WITH YOUR SCHOOL WORK. YOU MAY NOT THINK SO. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SAVE WHAT YOU EARN OR ASK FOR MORE HOURS. IF THAT OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE, THEN LEAVE THE SITUATION ALONE.
