Does anyone know all the contraindications and precautions for TENS units. I know it differs from regular E-stim.

"TENS unit" - Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation has the following precautions and contraindications:

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
>> in persons using a CARDIAC PACEMAKER.
>>person with heart disease not evaluated for risks.
>>pregnancy
>>malignancy
>>pain syndrome with unknown cause.
>>conditions involving circulation impairment.

PRECAUTIONS:
>>use only under the continuing supervision of a physician.
>>turn the stimulator OFF before applying or removing the electrodes.
>>do not adjust volumes while operating machineries and vehicles.
>>do not use transcerebrally across the head.
>>do not use over the carotid sinus(where the jaw meets the neck).
>>do not use over the eyes or carotid nerves.
>>do not use over metal implants.
>>do not use in conjunction with sleep apnea or heart monitors.
>>long term stimulation at the same electrode site may cause skin irritation.
>>use only according to the SPECIFIC pain prescribed by the doctor. (It may not work on CENTRAL PAINS such as in hepatitis and appendicitis.
>>TENS units provide symtomatic therapy only and are not considered curative.
