Recently, my indoor-only cats got fleas. I don't have the means (or enough cat carriers) to get them to the vet, so I've bought the over-the-counter sprays and shampoos, which helped a lot. However, my one cat who was affected the most by these fleas now has worms, which I understand can come from ingesting fleas (gross). The worms my cat has look kind of like squiggly white rice. She also feels "rattly" when I hold her. I don't know if it's because her last bath made her sick, or if it's from the worms. This is new to me. The other 2 cats do not appear to be affected by worms. Is there a treatment I can buy for my cat without bringing her into the vet?

Tradewinds wormer tablets that you get at pet supply stores. It goes by weight, and I think there are three tablets to a bottle. They are not really cheap, but cheaper than the vet. They are the same as the Droncit at the vet.

You better make SURE you are totally flea free, or you will have the problem all over again!!!!!! You would be better off spending more and getting Advantage for treating the fleas. Sprays and shampoos rarely take care of the enitre problem.

Some people just spew what they have heard with no real proof! YES, SOME OTC wormers are CRAP. HOWEVER, Tradewinds is the SAME active ingredient as Droncit. Visit the sites and compare. As long as you follow the dosing instructions on the bottle, you are fine!

No flea or worm treatments from stores work properly I'm afraid - stores aren't licensed to sell the appropriate drugs for effective flea and worm control.

You don't have to take them all to the vet to get proper meds for this. You can pick up Frontline over the counter at a vets, and Drontal (for the worms).

Indoor cats are not safe from fleas by the way, as you now know. The squiggly rice things are tapeworm, which are transmitted by fleas.

If you take your kitties to the vet the charge should not be more than $20 to get them de-wormed. Unless you haven't taken them for their check-ups. The vet will probably charge you an exam fee. Make sure you have completely gotten rid of the fleas or else the problem will begin all over again.

It's important to let your vet treat them. Otherwise the care is substandard. Kitty is worth it!

Your cat probably has tapeworms. You can get tablets with praziquantel at most pet stores - the most common are under the brand name Tape Worm Tabs by Tradewinds; D-Worm also makes a de-wormer with praziquantel, but check the label because they make several different products with different ingredients.

You will probably want to treat all the cats because they've all been exposed to fleas.

nicely puppy save remedies do no longer paintings i'm able to promise you that so do no longer even concern. What do you mean precisely by way of they are on her fur authentic now? this is no longer regularly the place you notice worms! Do you mean tapeworm segments? i think of you need to coach a vet precisely what's on your cat's fur! Do they seem to be rice segments? those are tapeworms and that they are the only worms you could discover on an animal's fur. otherwise this is fleas or mites or lice or dandruff or flea dirts you're seeing!! act fast. She needs to go to the vet ASAP. that can be cured, but it has to be done by a perscription. Also, keep her away from the others, different litter box and everything. she neds quarentined. right now. don't handle her too much, and bathe her daily with flea shampoo if she still has fleas. if she gets too sick, she will die. you probably don't need to take them all in, but to get them all flea collars, and shampoo your carpets and bedding and couches and anything they have been on, or you will never get rid of it. Please hurry to the vet, because i can tell you are concerned, and as far as i know, there is no home remedy for worms. look around for deworming at the pet store.
