I am pregnant 25 weeks pregnant and my husband is in the coast guard. I am about 20 minutes from the navy medical center. He is leaving for deployment and I was wondering if I could stay with my parents, they live 1 1/2 hours from the navy medical center but they have an army medical center 35 minutes away. So I was wondering if I could transfer my prenatal care to and deliver at the army medical center. or who do I need to talk to to find out.

You need to transfer your Tricare coverage to whatever region your parents live in. Call the Army medical center where your parents live and ask to speak to the patient liason. They can tell you if they're accepting prenatal patients. A lot of smaller centers will send you to a civilian for prenatal care, only one of my children has been born in a Navy facility out of 4.

Call the Army Medical Center. You are eligible.

only if the AMC would be willing to accept you without having PCS orders. Switching from one to the other isn't an issue as far as TRICARE Is concerned, but if the AMC doesn't have room, or no one is willing to take on somebody so far along, then you may not have a choice in the matter.

I believe you would have to check with your primary care manager. Tricare for active duty would have a primary care doctor. Otherwise, go on Tricare's website and sign in. They will respond to your question. judson
