There is no persecution of Christians in the United States, just like there is no "war" on Christmas. There is, however, the "Culture War," which is the effort of some of the more extreme Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians (not all Christians, just certain "FEC's") to completely dominate the culture and drive out all competing influences -- including more liberal Christian sects, and Christian denominations that they disagree with such as Catholics, Mormons, and Jehovah's Witnesses. When those of us who are not FEC's stand up for our rights, and oppose them, we are accused of "persecuting Christians."
But I am not persecuting Christians when I fight back in the Culture War. I am not persecuting Christians when I stand up for Gay Rights, abortion rights, Evolution in the classroom, freedom of ALL religions, and separation of Church and State. I oppose the "culture war" agenda of the Religious Right for the same reason I would oppose Sharia Law in the United States -- because I would support and defend the rights of all people regardless of their religion, and because I support the freedom of all religions. To allow one extreme version of one religion to dominate the law, politics, and culture of the United States is to undermine the very freedoms our founders fought for.
So, no, I'm not persecuting you. I'm standing up to you.

I consider any maliciousness aimed at a person because of that person's faith to be persecution. There's religious persecution of people of other faiths, by the way. And, there are obviously degrees of persecution. I was once harassed for months at a job as a auto mechanic because I didn't go along with sexual jokes and other smutty talk. i finally answered cleverly, embarrassing the harasser and he quit.

Expose the hate mongers who are no better than Nazis when they make suggestions about killing people and barbecuing them. Yes I can see why these people think they are so much more evolved than Christians. In my country (Canada) that is considered a hate crime. And when they say they're only joking there's nothing amusing about promoting hate. The persecution of the jews in Germany started mildly at first and when no one opposed it grew beyond anyones wildest imagination.

Passing the law so that no individual, company or organization, public or private, that is not afiliated with a particular religion can do or say anything to interfere with the beliefs, practices, actions, activities or any person or persons of a different religion.

You would have to start actually persecuting them first. Not only do the ones in the US live in the lap of luxury compared to 99% of the rest of the world but the legal system and government has shown them preferential treatment for so long they truly believe they're entitled to it.
The best way to begin the persecution would be allow them everything they're demanding then change the dominant religion in the country.
Then their children would have to say another religion's prayers in public school. Their children would be taught another religions creation myth in science class. Another religion would be able to dictate who can legally marry. And so on.
Heck now that I say it that sounds pretty good to me. Same crap different religion. It would be no worse than now but it would be well worth it to see the look an the faces of those demanding those things now. "In Xenu we trust"
