I keep trying, but iTunes won't connect to the internet, it says there is a connection error, but the internet itself works fine.

It sounds like your firewall is getting into the way of iTunes connecting to the Internet.

Go into your firewalls setting and configuration pages, and locate the area which shows all the programs with connection priveleges and see if iTunes is on the list.

It it isn't, you will need to manually add it. It shouldn't be difficult.

Click on the Add button, and then browse for the main iTunes executible. It could help if you first locate it in the Program Files so you can easily browse to it with the firewall applications Add Wizard. Then you would know exactly which program you need to give access and open ports in your firewall.

Once you have browsed to the appropriate executable, click on it in the firewalls browse window, and then click Open. That will add the program to the firewalls allow list. Now, it should only need Outgoing connection rights, so if needed change from Incoming/Outgoing to only Outgoing, click Apply or OK, whichever your firewall uses to add items or allow changes to be recorded.

Now attempt to see if iTunes is able to access the Internet, or Phone Home!

If this is not the issue, repost here and state that you already tried the firewall and it was listed, so others can see what you have already done and offer out additional assistance. But, one step at a time!

Good luck and a happy holiday season.

This might be caused by a firewall or some kind of security program blocking the port that the iTunes music store uses. For example: When I am at work, I am not allowed to use the iTunes music store because the port is blocked for security reasons. When I am at home, I don't have any issues because I don't have it set-up to block the port that iTunes uses. Most likely, you are able to access the internet because the internet uses many different ports and there is no reason for them to be blocked.

So to answer your question, you might want to check any security settings you have on your network and make sure its not set up to block any ports. Try to do some type of reset on your computers anti-virus software and see if that helps.

It might be that you have a firewall set up and it blocked it.
I would go check your firewall settings, see if iTunes is blocked in there.
Hope it Helps

If you are trying to use the UK store, i had the same problem about 2 days ago, i think that at certain times the apple server just locks up. Just try again later.
