Starchy carbs are the ones to watch out for. They are ok early in the day, and/or after workouts. I tend to only eat oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potatos in this category, as they are lower glycemic.

Fibrous carbs are ok anytime - lettuce, broccoli, spinach, etc.

Fruits are good too, but I do them only early in the day.

You must have some carbs for fuel to exercise and function in general..

It depends on the type of carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates (whole grains, vegetables, etc.) are not only very good for you, they are vital to a healthy diet. Simple sugars (sucrose, high fructose corn syrup, etc.) are very, very bad for you and should be avoided as much as possible.

Carbs are NOT bad for your body, people nowadays try and cut carbs and get rid of them, but thats mostly because of what the Atkin's diet started, they said that if you stoped eating carbs (which are easily turned to glucose, your bodies energy) that your body would have to convert protein and eventually your fat stores in order to create glucose, which would cause you to loose weight. If you don't eat many carbs it means your body focuses on protein and fat because thats what it has to work with, it doesn't mean carbs are bad, just that not eating them helps you lose weight.
