It used to be hard not to say Merry Christmas. That is until I started working at a place where at least 1/2 of the people were Jewish, including the owner of the company. Now I say Happy Holidays. It was the 'politically correct' thing to say, or at least that is what my boss said. You never know these days who will be offended by what. I thinks it is ridiculous personally, but whatever.

No it's not . I'm sitting here all by myself at the computer , it's not difficult to not say Merry Christmas once in a while . In fact I'd feel rather foolish saying Merry Christmas .

I don't find it difficult to say Merry Christmas where I might know that is what the majority celebrate, but in situations where I am unsure of other people's holiday/religious affiliations I do try to use a more encompassing greeting. If I know then I try to say the correct greeting otherwise wishing someone a happy holiday season usually works well. For me its not about being politically correct as much as trying to respect everyone's traditions. I think as long as the message of the season (i.e. peace, love, respect) is conveyed that is all that matters.

Actually yes. I've very recently decided to say "Happy Holidays" but "Merry Christmas" has been such a familiar mantra for so many years that it's a hard habit to break.

Yes, it is hard for me, but then I never try to. I always hope everyone is enjoying the festivities and the giving and loving season.
Oh, and Merry Christmas.

I believe the 1st amendment allows us to say "Merry Christmas". This is not a horrible, hateful thing to say. It is a wish of goodness. I am very pleased when my Jewish friends say "Happy Hanukkah" to me. I do not find this offensive.
It would be nice if people could just accept one another and not always be looking for something to be offended about. When someone includes you on their celebration, consider yourself lucky.

No. The word Christmas means literally... Christ-Death. Which is a very odd thing to say in regards to His birth! Between today's commercialization of the holiday and the pagan origins of many Christmas traditions... I find it hard to celebrate the holiday at all... and that being a staunch Christian! The early Biblical Christian church did not celebrate either Christmas or Easter for several hundred years after Christ. It was not until the Catholics merged pagan traditions with Christian beliefs that these holidays came into existence. To me much of these holidays are like worshipping Baal in the name of Christ.

I don't think I could work in an environment where I would not be allowed to say "Merry Christmas". If store clerks say "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" to me, I say "Merry Christmas" back to them, and if they don't say anything, I say it to them anyway.
I for one am sick and tired of this walking on eggshells so as not to offend anyone who believes differently than I. If they are that easily offended that my well-meant sentiment is taken as an insult, I am sure that something else I said or didn't say or did or didn't do would have offended them anyway. The Lord knows my heart, and how others take me is on them.
Merry Christmas!

I say "merry christmas" everywhere...it shouldn't be offensive in places like stores, when afterall most of the shoppers are shopping for christmas! However, for us folk who recognize many holidays during winter, if someone says something else, such as "happy hunukkah", I respond in like...
