some of you people have no sense of humor or style. I am wearing a cathedral length white wedding gown, no one will see my feet until he takes the garter off (steelers garter).

Also for the jerk that implied that I am white trash. My wedding is costing me and my fiance over 35000.00 with no help from our parents or anyone else so go F yourself.

Okay, here's the thing. When my brother got married, his wife wore white sneakers under her gown, but she ended up having to take them off b/c she couldn't dance properly in them - there was too much traction!

I wore white ballet slippers with little crystals on top at my wedding. It felt almost like wearing socks, and I was a bit worried about people stepping on my feet, but they were so comfortable and I loved wearing them!

The funny thing is, even though your gown will cover your shoes, you will be amazed at how many women will ask to see your shoes, b/c they know that people usually pay a fortune for wedding shoes! So people WILL see the shoes!

Ultimately, it's your day, so wear whatever you want. You could probably get a funny photo of you hiking up your gown to show off your shoes!

Not at all. If that is your style then go with it. I actually wore a tux and my old beat up chuck taylors when I got married because that is who I am. Now I did cave to my wife and not wear my chain wallet during the ceremony, but it was hooked back up at the reception. I also flipped a coin at the alter when the judge asked if I wanted to marry her. The ring bearer rolled down the eisle in his wheely shoes. The last song the band played was Rage against the machine killing in the name of love. It's your day do what you want.

Save the really good stuff for the first night of the honeymoon-you are going to want to be as comfortable as possible under there-because you are going to overheated, and uncomfortable in the dress, and the garter is going to be annoying (doesn't matter how soft the silk is, it's going to be annoying squeezing your thigh for that many hours). I wore the simple corset that you get from David's bridal and the petticoat skirt, and a really comfy pair of underwear and my garter. If you are looking for something incredible for the honeymoon, try la perla, or fig leaves, or victoria's secret.

I think that would look awesome!

(And I love the idea of a Steelers garter, too!)

Don't be afraid to let your wedding style express your individual personality and style.

I've known weddings where the bride was barefoot; where one, an Elvis fan, wore blue suede shoes; where the groomsmen wore Hawaiian shirts; where the icing on the wedding cake was chocolate...so, is it typical? No. But it's your wedding, do it YOUR way, whatever makes you happy - which is what all these couples did, and were perfectly happy with their choices.

And my ex sister-in-law once wore her Docs with her prom gown, so I know that they do look really good with a formal dress. I'd let your groom wear the Chuck Taylors; I've seen those on a groom before, and they actually look nice with a suit.

Best of luck, and congratulations!

Is your wedding gown black or grunge? Then wear your Doc Martens.

But IF you're going the white gown & veil/head dress route then go with the all stars. Maybe you and your girlfriends can dress them up with white trims to make them complement the gown... or just to make them fun & funky.

A lot of brides also wear a pair of fancy shoes for the wedding itself and then switch to white sneakers for comfort for the rest of the day.

Listen don't listen to any of these people. Please wear what you want to were. Shoot if you wanted to go bare footed you can. No one is going to see your feet until he takes the guarder off. You be yourself. That is who he is marring is you. That is who he fell in love with is you. Not what you wear. I think that if you wear your combat boots you making a statment of, I may be wearing a dress for the day, but my boots are my choice. I love it. Now if your parents were paying for your wedding like they should be, then I would advise you to wear something else. But seeings how your parents aren't paying for it, I say wear what ever the h*ll you want. Good luck to you May God Bless your new family that your bring together in love, happiness and tears. I will pray for the both of you, that your marriage will last until the end of time. May your love for one another be just as strong as the bond you have between one another. Amen. God Bless I hope I hepled you out.

do whatever you want! I see nothing wrong with Docs under your dress. Is your dress the traditional white? You could get some white docs and lace them up with lace that is your wedding color. Or vice versa. A friend of mine did the white chucks for her wedding and it was really cute.
