It's flipping a players jersey over their head so that you can hold them down and punch them in the head!!! I thought most hockey fans knew that...sorry...

idk, but Rob Ray is the reason that jerseys have fight straps to prevent their removal. He used to always take his jersey off during a fight, leaving nothing for his opponenet to grab onto

The common courtesy of supporting your opponent in a fight has been around for years. Long before Domi came into league. The ice is hard, you would not want your fellow combatant to fall down and hurt himself so supporting him by the sweater is the least you can do to help out, usually with the same courtesy extended to you. An unfortunate side effect is you may have your vision impared by your own sweater, but the extra padding is well appreciated when the going gets tough.
I hope this clears things up for you.

Probably someone not use to fighting, or before the time of the fightstrap. All goons would wear a fightstrap. (actually, all players, but like helmets, some not expecting their Jersey to be pulled off might not fasten it.) It attaches the inside back of your jersey to your pants so it can't be pulled off.

Glen Cochrane and Dave Brown with the Flyers would do it also Chris Nilan.I remember Probert sometimes would just take off his jersey in the beginning of the fight so they would have nothing to grab.
