It is a very tricky word. It is ok for black people to use the word "n i g g a" as a friendly term amongst themselves and has no connotations to the term "n i g g e r" which was used mostly during the "slave days", but if any other race uses that term and they are not a friend of the person in to whom they are speaking it can be seen as bad. The thing I do not understand is that most people today have been so far removed from the "slave ownership" that saying you are descended from one or from someone who had owned them has not happened in 8 generations (about 20 years each) I personally never owned slaves and as far as I know and the people I know, black, white or otherwise, have never been slaves to anything but work and money. Society is so scared of offending someone that even the spell check program on this server will not let me spell out the "N" word . . .In todays' world the "N" word is only as offensive as the person hearing it lets it be to them. This is all they can control. If it offends them they will be outraged, if it does not bother them . . no big deal . .
If the woman is really nice call her by her name and not that black girl. That would be the most acceptable answer. The other question I have is why would you even consider calling her a "n i g g e r" since there is nothing nice about the term and you seem to think she is nice.

At the end of the day, it's entirely up to the black person them self. I grew up with a lot of black kids, and the 'n' word was used more than anything else. I grew up thinking this was acceptable, and was never told that this could be considered as negative till I was honestly about 15. All my friends were okay with it, and called each other it all the time, and I obviously got called it by association, even though I am olive skinned. I made new black friends, who were okay with it, as they could tell I was comfortable with it. However, it is entirely up to her. You should ask her really how she feels about it, and never use the 'n' word in a negative sentence such as "damn n****r" or something similar.

Um, i'm confused. At first I thought you meant the racist term starting with an N, but then you referred to the word "Nice"? Yes of course you can call her nice, but not the other word. It's not an acceptable word and its meaning is meant to be hurtful nowadays. As for "black," well I am not a black person, but all my black friends let me say that and they don't think it's offensive and neither do I. I mean, we're "white" people aren't we? What's the difference?

nicely im white yet i could in no way call a black guy or woman who be conscious on account it rather is derogatory and kinda of like a going back to the days whilst they have been slaves. Its merely not proper. i dont think of its proper some black human beings call one yet another that be conscious the two because of the fact it prevents it from 'disappearing', which you would be able to communicate. If no one ever makes use of it anymore than it is going to ultimately merely circulate away. and as nicely it supplies some white human beings the effect that its okay to call black those that be conscious. surely because of the fact the be conscious is an insult to a black guy or woman, i assume its not AS insulting if a black guy or woman says it to a distinctive. i mean its their 'proper' you recognize? white human beings invented the be conscious proceeding to break black human beings, so if black human beings come to a sort to apply it in a 'brotherly' way, between 'acquaintances', i assume ist greater advantageous than any way a white guy or woman could use it.

you mean the word nice? I wouldn't use black girl to explain her to someone, I would just say the women downstairs you don't need to specify that shes black, if you do it is rude even if you don't mean it in that way.For instance what if you lived in an all black or Hispanic neighborhood wouldn't you kind of take offense if someone identifies you as that white boy, by your race and not by your character? hmm for that matter I suppose the generalization in the example "black
or Hispanic" neighborhood is contradicting ..but a good example. Be treated the way you'd want to be treated, and be culturally sensitive.

Of course it isn't, you must know this, why should you need to ask? this is a human being you are talking about, her colour is a gift from her God. Your ignorance does not allow you to be derogatory to her or indeed any race, creed or colour
I feel that you are trying to insight rude and controversial answers, try sensible questions you will gain a lot more. Have a NICE day!

If a person is black their black. U cannot call some one the N word - ever. Im black, its not nice. Why would you need to refer to her as black anyway? A person is just a person. Ask her her name.

The N word? Nice? Natural? New neighbour?

If she is a black woman, then she is black....do you think its okay to call someone a white person? if they are in fact white?

How about finding out her name and call her by that!
