what are the ideal conditions for shooting with a slower film like an ISO 50 or 125 ?

You can shoot in any condition with the ISO's you've mentioned, but you have to be prepared. If it is a hand-hold only (no tripod), you will want brighter lighting (AKA outdoors during the day). If you are using a tripod, you will be able to shoot in lower light situations. The one thing I would avoid is motion pictures in low light because of the aperture and shutter speeds you will be using. It will create those action blur pictures.

I would suggest shooting with the camera mounted on a tripod, this will allow you to use slower shutter speeds enabling you the have more depth of field should you wish to. Depending on the focal length of your lens you will be using i would always shoot at about f16/f22 for landscapes. Obviously if you are shooting with a wide angle lens you wouldn't need f22. Using hand held I wouldn't use anything slower than 1/60th of a second.

Daylight or relatively close subjects (up to about 20-25 feet) with a good flash. Not in a gym or auditorium, though.
