We see both aspect of the christian. Where Christ is His objective righteous, where we stand before God the Father in and by Christ as our righteousness. This is our sure stand.
1 Cor 1:30
" But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom to us from God, both righteousness and sanctification and redemption"

But then we see another aspect.
Here's a verse.
Revelation 19:8
"And it was given to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, bright and clean, for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the saints"

Is this not an amazing verse? I believe that this righteousnesses (plural) is subjective.
Please look at the references in Psa 45:13-14 if you have time. Its looks at the church as the Queen and her two garments. One outward one inward. This second garment of fine linen corrisponds with Matthew 22:11-12.
So what I'd like to know is a little bit more about the righteousnesses of the saints as the inner stitching and working of the Holy Spirit in our being.

I love 1 Corinthians 1:30 and am still meditating and letting this verse sink into my heart, that Christ is my wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption. The following verse says, "Let him who glories, glory in the Lord". So indeed I have nothing to boast of myself, but in Christ alone, who is my everything.

Isaiah 54:14 says we shall be established in righteousness, and we shall be far from oppression. I believe when we know and believe God has sworn He will not be angry with us, nor condemn us (verse 9), because of what Jesus has done for us at the cross to give us His righteousness (Isaiah 53), we will be established in righteousness. And we shall be far from oppression (which can include sicknesses, since Acts 10:38 says Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil). Verse 17 concluded that our righteousness is from the Lord. That is our sure stand, as you have stated. :)

As for your revelation of Revelation 19:8, it is something new to me, as I didn't realise "righteousnesses" is plural. I found that my NKJV says "righteous acts of the saints". So that's plural too, except it defines righteousness as "doing" rather than "being".

It's true that this "righteousnesses" is subjective, since I realise we grew up in different backgrounds and have been taught differently, so our thinking has been shaped accordingly. Nevertheless, the Lord is good to all and welcomes diversity, and desires unity among believers. So, I won't dwell on this word for too long and move on to talk about the fine linen, until a more appropriate time when the Lord has taught me more about this "righteousnesses". :)

Psalm 45, as my NKJV Children's Illustrated Bible titled, is about "the glories of the Messiah and His Bride". So, I believe the Bride, or the Queen, is the church of Jesus Christ. I learnt that we are clothed in the robe of Jesus' own righteousness as well as garment of salvation. (Isaiah 61:10-11). This seems to corresponds well with Psalm 45:13-14 "Her clothing is woven with gold. She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colours".

Gold symbolises divinity, but I'm not sure about "many colours", though it reminds me of Joseph's tunic of many colours (Genesis 37:3). You have stated that the second garment is fine linen - I suppose that's in the Recovery Bible you are using? My KJV Bible says it's "raiment of needlework".

Anyway, let's not be too caught up with translations for now. :) It's the substance, the food for the spirit, the revelations that will build up our inner man that we are seeking after, right?

Ezekiel 44:17-18 says the priests shall wear linen garments and not wool while ministering, and "they shall have linen turbans on their heads and linen trousers on their bodies; they shall not clothe themselves with anything that causes sweat." I learnt in church that Christians are kings and priests in Christ, so this picture in the Old Testament applies to us in this sense. The linen cloth is a thin, cooling garment that doesn't cause sweat easily, compared to wool. The word "sweat" first appears in Genesis 3:19 "In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread." It means the fallen man has to depend on his own efforts to work the ground and produce food, which can cause much stress.

I believe the loving heart of our heavenly Father is saying here that Christ has redeemed us from the cursed life of depending on our own efforts to provide for ourselves and being stressed. Now that Christ is our all in all, God wants us to remain cool and peaceful, not agitated by circumstances, by depending on His grace in everything that we do. That brings the Holy Spirit into the picture, as you have described as "the inner stitching and working of the Holy Spirit in our being".

I believe once we acknowledge the grace of our Lord Jesus, everything in the Bible falls into place, and difficult passages start to make sense. So, in this passage, we learn that we are to rely on our Lord at all times, in prayer and communion with Him, cooperating with Him in making decisions, and being still before Him and looking to Him for deliverance when we are in trouble, for He is our very and ever present help in time of need. (Psalm 46)

Thanks, sister, for sharing this question and your thoughts with us. You have helped me to see some familiar verses in a new light. :)

The Rightouness of the Saints is that the members of the church, (called Saints by Paul) do what is right before the eyes of God, about the garments of linen it has been a jewish tradition to wear certain clothing in certain ceremonies, and the white linen repesents purity.

When we are born of God, cleansed by His blood; we are made the rightousness of Christ.

Nothing we do or don't do will can change that. God looks at us & sees the righteousness of Christ.

This is my security blanket.

It is the blood Jesus shed for remission of our sins. We are purchased with a price (adopted). His righeousness & sanctification redeems us. He sanctifies us by the renewing our minds in His Word & His Spirit. We are redeemed by His blood that was shed for us.

Thanks for the question. It is always good to read verses of who we are in Christ.

Have you not read the story of the wedding at Cana? Mary said to Him, they have no wine. He said, my time has not yet come. She ignored what He said, and she said to the servants, do what He tells you to do. Then he provided the wine for the wedding. She ignored what He said, because she knew He was kind and loving.
