i find it very hard to do for some reason!

no. You are supposed to lift ur head and shoulder blades off the ground. Also lift ur bottom back up. Thats how you do a crunch. : )

If you come all the way up, it's called a sit-up. I don't do those; they hurt my back! Crunches just sort of curl you up and you hold your stomach muscles really tight.

no just a little bit, but keep your neck up (like you have an apple under your chin).

no the base of your shoulder blades should just touch the floor
