There are several good medications out now for RLS. I have PLMD (periodic limb movement disorder) which is very similar, as are the treatments. Right now, I take a "base" dosage of 1mg of Klonopin (my "guaranteed to work" med), and my doctor just added Requip. He gave me a starter kit, 2 days at .25mg, 5 days at .5mg, and then a week at 1mg, and then we go from there. Benzo's (like Klonopin) are used a lot for these disorders, but the dosage has to keep being increased to be effective.

I'd be kind of wary of Mirapex though. One of the worst side effects is nightmares and hallucinations, and wow, are they bad! Check into Requip though, it hasn't been bad for me so far.

My doctor put me on .25mg pramipexole some years ago and I take one around 4pm and it helps me to sleep through the night and I have not had any side effects.
It is not an addictive drug which is good. It is also a drug which is prescribed for Parkinson.
Good luck

If you don't want to go get a doctor's prescription, then try a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar. It is great for aches & pains.

It is claimed that a bar of soap under the bottom of a mattress works.

I have it too, so I'll be checking out the answers you get! I take muscle relaxers at night. They don't stop the "jumps" totally, but enough so that I can get to sleep.
