Can anyone give me any information on the number of children who either died or were sold into slavery during the Children's Crusade? List sources, if you can.

Thanks.

As I recall from my history class (high school was a long LONG time ago) it was known that there were as many as 20,000 children involved in this event at one point. The marched toward the Mediterranian sea, which was suposed to part when they arrived. It didn't. They found passage on board Turkish ships Some died in a shipwreck caused by a gale off the Sardinian coast Island of San Pietro, and those that survived, were sold off into slavery in Tunesia.

In truth It does not seem that the figures, not even an estimate, are recorded anywhere.

In 1212 a shepherd boy thought that he was visited by Jesus and put together an army of over 7000 children. His plan was to march to the Mediteranean where the sea would part and then they would march on to Jersualem. When the sea didnt part, they boarded Tunisian boats and were promptly bound and sold into slavery.
