Rose petals (in the bride's colors - or plain white) are the most common. BUT i have also seen daisy petals, violets, pansies - and just about any other small flower.
One particularly lovely petal-strewn path had all kinds of locally found wild-flowers - including dandelions.

There are a couple of schools of thought on that
first there is rose', Daises and about any large petal flower
or you could have a flowers like yours in a basket or a nosegay
I would sugest seeing if petals are a loud to be tosed a lot of
places say no do to the mess

Well, I would think that you could use any petals from any flower but you would want to pick a flower with large petals so you don't have to go through so many to cover the aisle or make an impact.

Anything with petals.....I really like daisy's over roses....I think for a little girl they're really cute and girly.
Plus, with roses you can only toss the petals, one at a time. With daisy's you can cut off the heads and throw those. It turns out really cute.

There's a picture to show what I mean
Good luck and congrats! :)

Be careful to chose a flower where the petals won't rub in and stain the churchs carpet! Many places require an isle runner!!!

I have seen rose petals before. Both red and white. I thought this was a great idea that my cousin used because she didn't want rose petals or anything like that. She wanted to be different and that is what she did. She went out and bought a bunch of construction paper that matched the wedding party colors. She cut out hand size red hearts, and lavender hi heel shoes for her maid of honer, and had her sign them, and then she took the purple paper for her brides maids and had all them sing them. Then she took and cut out white dresses and she signed them ones. For the Best man she cut out white top hats, had him sign them, and for the Grooms man she cut out Black top hats and had them sign it. So she has the whole wedding party in the flower girls basket and as the flower girl tosses them down the isle, everyone will know that with their friends they all walk together and never apart. And after that wedding in the church was done, they picked up the hand size confetti, and for their one year aniversery she is going to place the confetti on the floor as they all share the top of the wedding cake together as a circle of friends. After that she is going to make a colage out of the pieces and put a picture of them right next to their names, and a little discription about that person. So when their 50th wedding annivsery comes around she is going to bring it out and put it on display so people can see what they all looked like for the wedding when they first got married.
I thought it was a great idea, I have never heard of it or anyone else doing something like this. It is really unique. I hope I helped you out. Congratulations on your wedding, and may God bless you and your soon to be husband.

I have only seen roses of different colors. If you didn't want to stain the bottom the dress, use silk ones.
