I had a jujitsu tourny on Saturday...the rounds were 5 minutes, which I'm not used to. The matches were also really close together, and I'm really sore! I'm having some serious chest pain with deep breaths...did I somehow strain a muscle I don't know about in there or is something else going on? Any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

You probably pulled a chest muscle. If you did, you must rest for a while.

Seriously, don't work it even a little. If you work it, it iwll not heal. Go to the dojo and watch the class... assist with the underbelts, but don't strain it more than it is.

Hi there

Yes like the others have said go see the doctor at once just to be safe. It's most likely muscle damage but it could be a rib that has moved or been fractured. It may also be a Thoracic disc problem. This is the middle part of your spine where the rubs attach so this too can effect your breathing.

Many people with middle back pain also experience breathing problems.

Floating ribs and discs can cause you discomfort for years so its better to get them checked out as soon as possible.

Rest is also good. ;-)

Best wishes

Yeah! I got chest pain too! Go see a doctor. I haven't been to mine yet. It feels better after a while but it doesn't completely go away. Sometimes when I stretch my chest it pops. Don't know what it is, but til you reminded me with your question, it wasn't bothering me.

But seriously, tell your trainer about it and go see a Doctor. Mine is probably going to be permanent since I've had it for so long.
