I only went on one cruise, and I was under the impression you could get room service, anything you wanted, 24 hours a day.

Well, I was wrong. There was pizza available 24 hours a day in the lounge, and room service was only cold sandwiches.

My question is, was it just this particular ship I was on (Carnival's Celebration Ship), or are they all pretty much like that?

Is there a cruiseline/ship that has more of a selection at 3am, or with a room service menu the same as what you would get from a restaraunt??

Good food, and food selection is VERY important to me, and I don't want to be stuck on another boat again for 7 days with mediocre food, and not too much food to choose from. My husband and I are night owls, and we like to eat good. We might go to bed early, then wake up at 1 am for drinks, then we want to eat, but we want something GOOD, not friggin pizza and lunch meat sandwiches!!

One more thing. I asked another question regarding my Royal Carribean cruise. PLEASE read that question as well and answer it if you can. Thanks!

The late night/early morning fare now tends to be more snack like on most of the ships now. This does dovetail into your other question, which I have already submitted an answer for. On some of the ships the higher class the stateroom you are in the better the room service options. We have noticed that the room service options on Royal Caribbean tend to be better the the options on Carnival or NCL. On the Vision of the Seas and the Monarch of the Seas (The two RC ships we have been on) the buffet stayed open until around 1:00am then it switched to Pizza, burgers, and sandwiches.

Depends on the ship RCI Voygaer, has superb food, loads of gorgeous choices, we only bought our beer, food was avail 24/7 inc room service. It had speciality resteraunts too for small surcharge. There was pizza if you wanted it, but definately not luncheon meat sandwiches (lol) first class nosh !

Most large lines have 24 hour room service, but with a limited menu. You won't go hungry, but won't be able to get just anything you want.

in all honesty the days of 24 hour gourmand dinning are pretty much over on cruse ships. late night pizza and room service are about all you find now a days.

Of the major cruise lines, I think Princess has one of the best late night options. They have a late-night bistro on the lido deck that is open until maybe 4:00 am. You order from a menu and they prepare it. On our trip, the items included steak.
