Silent on animal rights
Silent on science
Silent on slavery
Big on forgiveness, though, I'll give him that.

Democracy didn't exist in any real form during the New Testament days, so when we look at this question we need to extrapolate scripture, look at tradition, look at our experience, and reason it all out.

The fact that human beings have free will and that I believe God respects our will even when it is wrong leads me to believe that democracy is consistent with the nature of God. Further, democracy gives us each a stake in the action of the whole so that we really can't maintain the gap between The Government and We the People for very long (though Republicans try to do so). Thus it transforms uor ethics into real action, which I think would be seen by Jesus as a very good thing. Further, if you think Revelation is a political allegory about empire and domination then I think the affirnation is clear that, as the Gospel of John reads, the Kingdom of Heaven would look very different from despotism.

All in, I think democracy is quite consistent with what we know of God. Just my opinion, of course....

No. The Bible was used to justify the rule of kings.

The Scriptural basis of the Divine Right of Kings comes partly from Romans 13:1-2, which states: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."

We got democracy from a system of government used by the Ancient Greeks before they were conquered by Rome.

My mother asked me about this a few weeks ago, so I applied my political science studies to Christianity. It all started when I said, you know when the Messiah comes you'll be out of a job. I told her there would be no need for physical therapist if we were in Heavan, however I said as a politician I would. I said politics is eternal. In Christianity, there is a belief that G-d is king. Which I agree. Well obviously religion is wrapped up in beleiving in G-d which makes the politics inherently theocratic, (religion controlling politics). And then I said becuase G-d is consideed king, a monarchy is another central part. I believe that G-d has a Monarchial Theocracy system, one in which a King and Religion are intertwined in a regime that has absolute control over outcomes.

communicate over with my different postings approximately "King-as-God" and "God-as-King". No, there is not any place for democracy interior the theocratic sort. God regulations and regulations are God. No debate, no explanation, no justification, no mitigation. finally the main conservative and non secular of Christians, have not have been given any love of democracy and are merely partaking in this one because of the fact they have self assurance that maximum anybody is Christians. the 2d "Jesus" comes lower back, the political gadget will at once replace to a benevolent dictatorship. Very doubtful how this transition is meant to artwork, and how contemporary capacity structures might tolerate it. final time it got here approximately (around 2BCE), it did no longer artwork out properly the two. I see no reason to think of the effect may be any further constructive, next time. in accordance to the legends, this "Jesus" person (who needless to say replaced right into a threat to the contemporary capacity structures on the time) replaced into finished. The legends then declare that he arose from the ineffective, indicating superhuman powers or those imbued interior him by using a superhuman. So my wager is that, have been he to re-look (this may be confusing because of the fact no person recollects what he feels like), the powers that be, might lower back refuse to relinquish their capacity to him. And given the known perception that he might upward thrust lower back from the ineffective (this compunding the threat) he might merely be imprisoned and not released. Ever. possibly he's one in all those "terrorists" at Guantanamo. that is handy, does no longer it? His identity must be stored secret, his beginning must be categorized, and he must be denied suggestions or any get right of entry to to the media.
