No your misinterpreting what before means, its doesn't mean in time, It means since I'm lord don't put another Gods in place of me.

It really means, that you are to follow the the scriptures, and nothing outside of it. So that means the bible. The book of Job, is an example of how Job breaks the 1st commandment, he seeks outside wisdom for individuals instead of sticking to the scriptures.

By following the scriptures you follow the Lord

The second commandment that are not to make no graven images, what that means, is your not to twist the scriptures to your liking. So if it says that Homosexuals are to burn in hell, you can say o i don't like that verse so im going to be gay and expect to go to heaven... that is an example...

Graven Image is forming the same God to your liking....

Hoped that helped

BEFORE AND AFTER AND UP AND DOWN WITH GOD AND CHRIST

Matt.22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Matt. 22:41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
22:42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David. 22:43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 22:44 The LORD [ Psm.83:18 ]; said unto my Lord [ he Jesus is David's & our Lord ], Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? [ 2Cor.4:3,4; [ 11:14; 1Pet.5:8; Rev.12:9; Gen.3:1-5 ]; the god of this world Satan, as and enemy with 1 / 3 angels will be cast down underfoot, Woe! to the earth ];

Dan.12:1-13 [ time of the end Jude 9; Michael, at Rev.3,4,6-11,12; gives Satan his short time in the end time under the feet of the heavenly and the intended heavenly Rom.16:20; John 6:39,40,44; 14:3; Mark 13:27; 1Thes.4:15-17; So Jesus ascended to God to wait for this Acts 2:27-35; 7:55,56; Psm.110:1; Matt.22:42-44; Mark.16:19; Rom.8:34; Col.3:1; Heb.1:1-13; 12:2; 1Pet.3:22;

We are but drops in the infinite ocean of the divine light, energy and love of God. He is in and of all things. He encompasses all things. We see him in all things without and all things within but none of it contains him in deed, material thing or concept. He is unknowable according to most all Holy scripture including but not limited to the Torah, the Jewish oral tradition, the Bible, the Quran and the Bhagavad Gita.

The definition of idolatry is:

1 : the worship of a physical object as a god
2 : immoderate attachment or devotion to something

Thus to say that this is God or that is God is some form of Idolatry because everything you experience is of God. Thus the deeper meaning of the scripture that says:

"Love your God with all your heart and all your soul". The second part is almost just like it. "Love your neighbor as you love yourself."

Love all, serve all because all is of God.

"Any man may deem that his love of God may be measured by the least amount of love he has in his heart for any man."

Blessings and peace to all,
All in all,
B

There are no other gods, the Bible makes that pretty clear. That command means don't value anything above God eg money, status, power etc.

Your concerns are addressed by the Second Commandment: God says that we are not to worship any other "god."

Actually, I think the 'before' is the 'in front of me' kind of 'before', like Lady Macbeth's 'Is this a knife I see before me...'. So 'Don't worship any other gods in my presence' - it's from the pre-monotheistic era in Judaism.

The old grammar throws you off. It clearly states that He is the only one to worship.

It isn't a before and after statement.
It means to put him first and foremost in your worship and him only shall you worship.
