What are the advantages/disadvantages? Is it environmentally friendly?

Advantage- It helps protect products from damage during shipping and display. It gives froom on teh item for advertising (good from the perspective of the supplier).

Bad- Wastes plastic and other resources since the product could be in smaller packaging.

It is not environmetally friendly on average.

It's a theft deterrent.
