Bill Maher will go down in history as the very soul of America's conscience.
satire is his weapon,
against the ever growing ignorance of the American people.
Bill knows that when he is bringing up the issues in his public dialogue,
that it is said in humour so that the Americans can best understand it. But don't be too humoured by it, Bill Mahar tells nothing but the scary truth.
Most of his TV shows are blanked out when he tells it like it is, But the real problem he has, are the big mouth know it all's that harass him during his performances. Americans have become so cynical it is no wonder why were hated so much, just shut up and listen when Bill Mahar is on stage, and try and learn something for once.

I also think highly of Bill Maher. He is an insightful and witty comedian and political/social commentator. His intellect, erudition, and just plain common sense would be a welcome change to the oval office, which has been mired with career politicians. As to the question of whether he is an atheist; based on an interview with Joe Scarborough, he has defined himself as someone who is apathetic to whether God exists or doesn’t. He acknowledges the possibility that God may exist, or that he might not, but he considers it highly improbable that we can ascribe human like characteristics to God, as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and most religions do. Given that he believes that the possibility can go either way concerning God’s existence, and he acknowledges that he doesn’t know, or can know whether he exists, I think it is safe to say that he defines himself as an agnostic. The interview with Scarborough makes this clear. I am including a link to that interview below:

"I'm not an atheist. There's a really big difference between an atheist and someone who just doesn't believe in religion. Religion to me is a bureaucracy between man and God that I don't need. But I'm not an atheist, no. I believe there's some force. If you want to call it God... I don't believe God is a single parent who writes books."
Sounds like he may be deist, to me.
He's awesome, either way.

I have no links suggesting he is an atheist. I can only go on what I have seen and heard from him, which is that he thinks all religious beliefs are crazy and irrational. He could be agnostic or a deist, but I am inclined to think he is an atheist.

I would describe Bill as more of a "realist" than an atheist (although he may be, which is no concern to me).
Bill usually "tells it like it is", because he has an intellectual's knack for separating the "fly **** from the pepper"
And he does not hesitate to state what he thinks, another admirable quality, in my opinion. I am very much like him, although I tend to resist expressing my adverse opinions around close associates because it would cause more pain to others than pleasure to me. (I'm not a total SOB).

Bill Maher is a hack who couldn't cut the mustard in stand-up comedy, so he revised his "career" to be a blithering, opinionated version of Dennis Miller. Maher never had an original thought in his life. God forbid his name is put on the ballot for president.

Yes he's very open about being an athiest although he was brought up as a catholic.
He is not presidential materia, kiddo. He's a freakin' comedian/political commentator! He doesn't have ideas of his own, only criticisms.

God is where you find him. Bill claimed to be an agnostic at one point but some would like you to believe that he is the devil.
