Your mother goes dancing.
Where's the 'sin?'
She's not drinking to excess, she's not having sex out of marriage, she's in fellowship with Christ and her church . . . she's dancing.
If her church has a problem with this, she can come to my church instead.
Godspeed.

Dancing is absolutely not a sin! 2 Sam. 6:14 talks about David Dancing before the Lord.
I love the Lord with all of my heart. I've been a Christian for over 10 years and have been surrounded by wonderful Christian mentors and peers. My 2 favorite things in the world to do are Praising the Lord and dancing with my friends.
Christianity is about D-O-N-E: what Jesus has done for us. It is NOT about a list of things we can and cannot DO. As Christians we must stop getting so wrapped up in little details.
I also personally think that if your mom wanted to go to a club that has alcohol that's ok too. AND even if your mom wanted to drink the acohol that's also biblical. I went to a very Biblical church that held one of it's ministries in a bar to talk about the Bible! A lot of non-Christians came and it generated GREAT conversation.
Jesus himself turned water into wine and called it a miracle! Now I'm not saying she should go out and get plastered and have no boundaries. BUT I'm saying as Christians we need to trust God to help us make wise decisions and stop worrying so much about what we can't do.
We're so afraid of sinning that we create rules and guidelines that aren't even in the Bible. The modern Christian church is often stricter than God and that's maybe a problem...
I'm sure that your mom is making good decisions. Trust God to lead her and everything should be fine.
Sorry about all the ranting!
Blessings upon you!

I can remember a time when my parents thought that dancing was a sin. They considered it so, because when you danced back then you had to go to a bar or tavern, or a place that served alcoholic beverages.
Even in my lifetime, the thoughts about dancing have changed. When I was a teen ager, we had "sock hops" in high school and dances on a regular basis.
To answer your question, No, dancing for your mom is not a sin. She upholds her Christian testimony and does not lower her standards when she dances/ She might even be able to use her dancing to be a witness for the Lord. She may dance with someone that is not saved and have the opportunity to lead them to the Lord. She sounds pretty cool and she is fortunate to have a child who is interested in her welfare. I know of no scripture passage that would be appropriate here.

What type of music is she dancing to? If we are doing things or going places where we cannot invite Jesus to be with us it is the devil's grounds. We have to be careful,Satan is subtle and he entices us one step at a time to sin. He never takes us out of the wrong but listening to his temptings we never know where this will lead. Alcohol is not the only wrong thing at a club think about the other wrong things that goes on there. My take on it is that if Jesus' presence is not there as Christians should keep away. After all we call ourselves Christians because we have taken on the name of Christ and we should be true representatives of His. God does not protect us when we are on Satan's grounds.Anything we do contrary to the Word of God is a sin but there is forgiveness if we repent and forsake our sins. Keep praying for your Mom.

Personally, I have no problem with dancing. In Ecclesiastes 3:4, we find that the Bible says there is a time to dance. We also find reference to King David dancing before the Lord. However, we also find in First Corinthians 10:28 where it says that you should not do something which would cause another brother or sister to stumble. If someone tells you that they think dancing is sin, and it bothers them for you to do it, then for their sake, you should refrain from dancing.

Wow. It is not a sin to dance.
I have never read anywhere in the bible
that dancing was sinful. You need to calm down.
There's no use in living life if you can't have a little fun.

Give praise with tambourines and dance,
praise him with flutes and strings.
Psalm 150 v 4
Dance in and of itself is clearly not a sin.

Why would it be a sin? I don't think that it is. Here's my citation from Scripture:
Romans 13:9-10:
The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
If she is not doing anything to dishonor God and not doing anything that would be considered contrary to loving her neighbor, she is not living contrary to the Word of God.

Uh, why would dancing be a sin? What church do you belong to? It's certainly not the Shakers. They loved to dance and thought it was a gift from God. Please explain what Bible verse makes you think that dancing in sinning.
