Buffalo co. , Wisconsin has one of the best managed whiteail herds in the country. Quality deer management started there long before it became the fad elsewhere in the states. If you're looking for a trophy it would be a good place to start. Go to the Wisconsin DNR website and look for public land available to hunting. Depending on where you live, however, you may not need to travel that far to find quality hunting. You may have a perfectly fine place to hunt in your own state or nearby. Be sure to do some homework before traveling all the way acroos the country just for a deer hunt.

Well up here in Northern Maine the deer get big (Bucks as big as 300lbs+). Plus if you go far enough north you don't have to compete with other people in a certain area. Very large areas hours away from towns. It can be peaceful. And down right nerve racking when that big 8-point buck steps out!

I live in Clarksville, Tn and there are deer everywhere. It's so bad you have to be extra careful not to hit the huge herds (20 or more) that sometimes congregate in the road.
