I'm 12 and I have a cough that I've had for a couple of weeks and it's mostly in my chest where you feel it when you cough. I am home and am going to the doctor today. I got the cough from a teacher who got it from a student. This is the second day I've stayed home for this. I stayed home last week on Monday too. What will they probably do at the doctor? Thanks!

They can perhaps find out why you are coughing. They can do a chest xray, they can take a blood sample, they can even do a TB test, there are many causes for a cough, and the doctor will know which tests to do.

The doctor will listen to your lungs with a stethoscope and depending on what he/she hears will prescribe antibiotics and/or cough syrup for you.
