Theres a guy I used to work with. I asked him out for a drink ONCE when we first started working together and that was the only time we ever hung out outside of work. During the time we worked together he expressed tha the liked me...over IM ..everything he ever said about it to me was through IM, in person..different story. He even asked me out once over IM but never said anything about it in person so it never happened. He eventually moved to Boston without anything ever happening betweeen us and he didn't really keep in touch. I sent him a myspace message recently just to say hey and he responded by giving me his new screen name (which he changed without telling me) and his phone number telling me to call him. I IMed him and he told me that he was coming to town soon and he wanted me to meet him at the airport and then hang out. I am just not sure about this whole thing. I mean he knew I was interested when he lived here and claimed he was but made NO effort in person. He continually expresses in IMs how attracted to me he is but he never calls and rarely makes initial contact. It was almost a week ago that he brought up the meeting him at the airport thing and I haven't talked to him since. While I let a guy know I'm interested, I am not the type to vigerously pursue a guy. What does this whole situation mean?? I like him a lot but come on !

What do you mean that he "made no effort in person"? Isn't showing up considered to be "effort"? Or are you implying that you want something physical, instead of just hanging out and being relational?

Maybe he does not believe in pre-martial sex, or maybe he is trying to be a "nice" guy. Why not talk to him and see what is on his mind?

Guys hate rejection, it is easy to be brave online because you can't read / see reactions. In person the face to face rejection is real, so guys lose the nerve. You make it easy for him by not challenging. You seem to like the online chats too. Someone has to break the ice here, it may as well be you. If you think he likes you, go for it. He may have been rejected once and can't get up the nerve. Guys egos bruise easy and rarely heal. Go for it, if you are the young, attractive, educated person you say you are you should have no problem breaking this icy situation.

He may lack self confidence since using IM instead of talking in person makes it easier to be open with a person but it also makes it easier to lie as well. It sounds like if anything serious happened between the two of you it would be your doing rather than his so you can talk to him but I would say think of him as a friend and nothing more until he decides he wants to think of terms of possibly more.

"bunny boiler'...hahah...gotta be sure you utilize that sometime. besides, while something like that happens to me, i do no longer anticipate or % an apology or clarification from the girl. it is going to easily upload to the awkwardness. ultimately, i could forget approximately the incident exceeded off as long as I see you at the instant are not psychological or something. you could be quite very careful to no longer get wasted on the subsequent paintings tension night so he will think of the final ingredient replaced into an remoted incident. After that...somewhat issues gets lower back to common. yet certainly, i do no longer think of he's that into you in the different case he could have a minimum of joked or teased you approximately it the next day. that's what I do if i detect the girl appealing.

It sounds like he might just be too shy to do anything face to face. You probably need to give him some obvious signs that you are interested too if you want anything to happen with him.

If you had replied to all his IMs through IMs, maybe he might have started talking to you instead of IMing you.

sounds like he doesnt have any balls to be able to open up and tell you his real feelings. i wouldnt worry about him. if he cant communicate in real life, what do you think that relationship would turn into?
