A little joke earlier got some really miffed reactions because the subject is God. Can't God take a joke?

If truly man was made in God's image, than I must assume God has a sense of humor.

Evonne: I have lived more than 30 years on this Earth. I've had people make fun of me before. I survived. I even learned often, if you laugh with them, you can end up making new friends.

I wouldn't doubt that God has a good sense of humor. However, some of his people may have a short fuse.

I thought it was a funny joke. Yes, I think God -does- have a sense of humor. Jesus even made a joke or two, but they were lost in the translation (when something gets translated, it's very hard to preserve the jokes. Especially if the translator doesn't have a sense of humor and -get- the jokes in the first place.)

I've noticed that some fundamentalist Christians, when they make jokes about the Bible it's always the Old Testament. I don't think they take the OT quite as seriously.

It's not that we are too touchy, but what you will allow as just a joke, will become more detestable later.
You think there is no harm in it at first, then it will become second nature for you to be a "donkey."
You think we are touchy, but when we Christians want to put RELIGON back in school, lets see who gets their underware all twisted.

I agree with you.

If there truly is a God, and if the Bible accurately describes His personality, then He experiences many (if not all) of the same emotions that we do.

I personally *love* religious jokes of all kind. Gosh, you should read some of the e-mails my boyfriend and I exchange. It's like competing who'll be a bigger infidel.

But to be honest, I don't feel like there's space for such in this type of forum. People are pretty touchy (not that I approve of that), but I do understand why they get offended.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like jokes about God should be kept out of R&S. A healthy dose of sarcasm is welcome anytime, though.

I think everyone is becoming a little too touchy about their beliefs. People seem to forget that God is a forgiving God so now we all need to get on the wagon and come on laugh a little. God loves us.

I gotta admit, that is kinda funny, but I don't know if God has a sense of humor

Of course we can make jokes about god. The question is which god are we talking about. As long as your not saying which god, you should be fine lol.
Certain gods will send you to hell while others will have their worshipers rape you when they hear you do it.
