I know of a soldier who was holding a slip of paper with a Bible verse on it when a mortar round killed nearly everyone in the vicinity, except him and a couple people who were standing near him.
He still has the slip of paper. One corner of it is burned, but other than that it's fine.
The guy that had that happen to him wasn't a Christian when it happened, but you can guarantee he is one now! I don't know him personally, but he's a close friend of a friend.

It is not the Bible that persists, it is God who saves. The American soldier should pray to Jesus asking their salvation and protection of his family
