There is nothing wrong with wealth.

The problem is the greed which constitutes its squandering.

I'm Buddhist, but I would like to be wealthy so that I may more easily give while still maintaining a stable life. Is there anything wrong with that?

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be rich or being rich. It is, however a privilege and a responsibility. It seems that a lot of rich people don't see it that way. A lot of poor people will give someone everything they have if that person needs it more than they do. They are over the top generous. While some rich can be incredibly stingy and grinch like. Look at the way we live. Some less wealthy people can't afford to live near where they work because the rich have taken over. The rich actively try to kick some people out. That happened in the town I grew up in. Rich outsiders came in and kicked out the natives or are trying to. It's not the money. It's the power and what some of these jerks do. I want to be rich because I wouldn't be like this. I would be responsible and do things to make my town a better place for more people.

Always remember that money is a great servant, but a cruel master.

There is nothing wrong with being motivated by money. Heck, our entire economy would collapse if most people weren't at least PARTIALLY money-driven.

What you should really should be striving for is happiness, which, believe it or not, is completely separate from wealth. Sure, in the short term a surplus of money can bring a sense of security, just as a lack of it can be stressful. But you'll find that you quickly adjust to your economic situation, whatever it is. This is why there is no shortage of "wealthy" people who are miserable, and plenty of "poor" people who are very happy with their lives. It's all about keeping a healthy perspective.

Ideally, you'll find a career path (or subject in school) about which you're passionate. That will make you want to get better and better at it, until you are one of the best in your field, and the money will come naturally.

But always heed the words of Henry David Thoreau: "that man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest."

I hope that helps. Good luck!

Being rich isn't everything it's how you use your money to help others in need. I would make sure my daughter is set financially then I would donate to places like make a wish foundation, kids with cancer, aids research, and places like those. Having more money then you need is asking for trouble in my opinion.

You should not drop out of school. You're dream'n if you think that you will be in for the big bucks. Check out the economy and bank lay offs.

As for me, I would like to be rich but God in his wisdom knows better. Being bi-polar I would buy out every store, but worse I would become haughty, not hotty.

Some should tell the tv evangelists that being rich is horrible. I believe that if you earn it, continue to do Godly things with the money, it is ok. Oprah, is a good example.

It is a positive thing to be rich. All it means is that you utilize your resources better than anyone else. Makes you a desired mate of females so you can pass down your good "utilizing of resources" genes. However if you are religious, I'd prefer that you stick to the following answer and work for and make people like me rich instead.
