I adore my tattoos. I do find the 'cookie cutter' tattoos that aren't designed for you (just chosen from a catalogue for example) - are awful, very impersonal.
I don't particularly like facial tattoos or when people have full sleeves or leg tattoos & they always wear shorts or short sleeve shirts to show them.
I'm not ashamed of my tattoos - but they're for me - I don't need to show them off, so I prefer for them to be able to be concealed if I desire to do so.

I personally think they are awesome. If done correctly, then one can view it as a form of self expression. But on the other hand, if you get one that is obscene and distasteful, then it is just plain stupid. For example, a man in a random city(this is true by the way) got a tattoo with Elmer Fudd's hand grabbing rabbit ears out of an anus on a human body saying, "Get out here you wascly wabbit." Now that's just plain stupid. But if you get one that shows pride in heritage or music then yes it's a good thing. It just depends on the tattoo and placement I believe.

I have a tattoo. It took me 34 yrs. to figure what I wanted and where I wanted it. I've had no regrets and now at 41 I'm dreaming up my next one. My first one is a crescent moon and 3 stars on my right ankle. My next one will be a small frog sitting on a lily pad with a dragonfly hovering next to it. I will probably have it put between my shoulder blades.

Tattoos are fine as long as you remember they are basically forever. A lot of thought should go into them beforehand. You should also make sure they are in a place that can be covered when necessary. There will be social and career situations in your life when you will need to cover them. I don't think they are insights to peoples souls, I think it is still better to talk to people to really get to know them.

I have 4 and all were done out in Hawaii.
I will be getting my 5th on Tuesday 12/4.
All are hidden depending on what I wear.
They are located in areas where if I want
them to be seen I can show them.
I have one on each front hip, one on the
back of my shoulder and one on my ankle.
They are small and delicate looking except
for the one on the back of my shoulder which
is of a peacock with his colorful feathers
hanging down, it is off to the side of my back
shoulder, enough that I can wear an open back
shirt or dress and not see it. It can be seen when I
wear a shirt or dress that shows my shoulders.
Again I can just wear a shawl over my shoulder
or shoulders and no one can see it. I love my
tattoos and love the fact that I have them where
I can show them off or keep them covered.
Thanks for asking!!!

They are ok - but they are permanent. As we grow and change, we are more likely to regret what we put on our bodies.
I personally am very conservative - only one set of earrings and no tattoos. But I have no problem with others having them.
However, a professional image must be considered - which I why I am glad that there is a minimum age for getting them without consent.
