apparently a generous amount of vicks vapour rub on the bottom of the feet and covering with socks works wonders on a cough, probebly not good during they day if they are at walking age, but its suppose to work, id try it.

NO HONEY!!!!!!! IT IS TOXIC TO BABIES!!!!! Vicks Baby Rub on his chest-not his nose Infants younger than 12 months are at risk of infant botulism from eating honey. Infant botulism is a rare but serious form of food poisoning. Honey is a known source of bacterial spores that produce Clostridium botulinum bacteria. These bacteria are typically harmless to older children and adults. But when ingested by an infant, these bacteria make a toxin that can cause infant botulism. It's unclear why this occurs in infants and not in older children or adults. Infant botulism affects a baby's nervous system and can result in death. Signs and symptoms of infant botulism include: * Persistent constipation * Floppy arms, legs and neck * Weak cry due to muscle weakness * Weak sucking and poor feeding * Tired all the time (lethargy) Botulism spores may also be found in undercooked food, corn syrup and even maple syrup. For this reason, feeding an infant any of these foods is risky as well.

I use the vicks vapor rub on both my 3 and 5 year old. That works to help a stuffy nose. They have the bear suckers in the drug store or at wal-mart you can try. I have used them and they work great. Keep using your humidifier :)

Poor little guy! You might try cold apple juice or frozen fruit juice bars. It will give him some temporary relief, at least. If the cough is worse at night, you can prop up the head of his bed a bit so that his upper body is elevated (folded blankets under the mattress, or blocks under the legs). A little bit of vicks on his chest at night should be okay.
I hope he feels better soon.

how young, and how bad is the cough? It may very well be a virus, not just a tickle, and a doctor could help with more answers. In little children things can quickly turn into bronchitis or pneumonia, so sometimes its best to take them to the pediatrician.
