because we try to reach a state of absolute perfectness, and as the saying goes practice makes perfect. I suppose if you apply it to something practical like playing an instrument, then practice can make you perfect.

Because practice makes pretty damn close.
And what's the point of doing something you're horrible at unless you plan on improving?
Besides: May be no one practices enough, and you can be the first person to become perfect. That's something to shoot for, right?

Practice doesn't make US perfect. It makes what we do perfect. Our work improves the more we do it.

Practice doesn't make perfect, it makes permanate. If you are constantly practicing something wrong, you won't get it right. You'll just master doing it wrong.

It is like a mathematical asymptote, you keep getting closer but never touch. Perfect your virtues by helping others, being kind to those who are objects of ridicule, visit the sick, the lonely. Be loyal to those over you, and firm but fair to those under you. Pray often.
